ALL WE NEED IS LOVE

Carol Douglas (05/28/08 16:23:02)   Tag: default

Hi Folks,
In case you haven't seen it yet, I wanted to let you know of an exciting project going on to help raise money for "CHILDREN IN NEED" this year.
It’s called MAKING MUSIC HISTORY, and Dazed has told me he'll kindly put the info. in an IMS Newsletter for those who don't come here often.

A UK artist Victoria Baker wrote a lovely song called "All we need is love" and friends of hers (including some well known people) started to cover it. The idea evolved to try and make it the most recorded song in history for the charity. They're asking people to simply submit their own version by the end of November this year and the 10 most downloaded songs will be put on an album.

I told one of the people in charge of promotion in the US (Diane) that I'd do all I can to help raise awareness of this worthwhile challenge and I'm hoping some people reading this might want to go for it.

No worries if not of course, but I just had to mention this awesome project because potentially there could be hundreds of IMS Members who'd want to submit a version. It's totally free to enter, and making music is what its all about..

I can't sing for toffee so sadly won't be entering myself, but Will Carroll has already done a fantastic version and the concept seems to have started snowballing already. In fact personally, I feel it's going to become huge over the next few months, especially because of all the large music sites like this on the net.

So come on Folks, anyone up for it?
(All we need is love)

I've added a BBC Radio Pudsey Promo of it to my samples at Soundclick.  Not sure about the copyright thingy but I'm sure it'll be ok...

If not, I may get in trouble but it's worth it!

LORDIE ME! The standard here is frightening.

Carol Douglas (05/04/08 06:22:05)   Tag: default
My thoughts to all the members here,...and to Dazed of course.

I feel the standard of material being posted now is absolutely incredible,(just been blown away again with a new band to me "Soundwell") and with time being at a premium for me, I try hard but fail miserably at keeping up with it all.

So this is to say a big thank you to Dazed for the site, and to all who review my own material, and a big sorry for not getting back as often as I'd like to.

Airplay on BBC Radio tomorrow night

I'm absolutely over the moon and feel honoured that Tom Robinson has confirmed he'll be playing my co-write with Nigel Potter "Too numb to cry" on his show BBC INTRODUCING.
Tom's well and truly behind unknown bands and the programme's past Playlists show that most of the songs chosen are from people over at Myspace.
A couple of weeks ago I submitted two "normal" type songs, but also, just for feedback, the dark and unusual "Too numb" and "Money from the satisfied man" written with Paul Jeffery.

I really hope that some of you might tune in and really can't thank Nigel enough for doing such a great job with the lyrics..
