Piano and flute, one of my fav combinations.
There is something about combining flute and piano that just radiates freshness and hope, like a new dawn.
Beautifuly played and aranged.
One of my fav flute players is Terry Oldfield, and IMHO this is a worthy match for his playing.
Delicate, and yet powerful piece, witha lovelys ense of rise and fall, and like all the very best music,it ends all too soon.
The ending fel a tad more darker, kind of ending in suspense.
Yep,excellent collab guys.
Greatly enjoyed.
Nigel.

i got tired of having my head bashed by all the rock, so, i remember this from about 2 years ago. very pretty builds and the flute simply floats and enlightens. beautiful song.

Such a treat to be able to listen to a piece of classical music of this calibre...That flute is truely angelic...This little tune, so short, is a sparkling diamond.. :-)
Peace n love mags xx :-)

Very classy (classical) composition... outstanding muso-ship with the flutists both tradition and native....and of course highlighted greatly with the played (keyboard) background music.

If this is what pop is I'd have to turn my radio back on. Uplifting and graceful. Gorgeous progressions with compelling melody I can strongly identify with. The instrumentation and playing couldn't be better. Thanks Dave...a gem. ~Blake

This very classical themed piece creates beauty at large...flute and piano are so strong and with the full underlying strings it exudes emotion... a very well crafted piece of art... interesting little native flute twist at the end suggests the listener could easily turn the page an enter another musical direction! Very nice Dave!

 |
lovely panoramic piano intro dave.. love the progression.. with the flute lead it takes on the feel of a big stage production/musical once again.. this must be YOUR genre doc..
your music is very reassuring and peaceful.. then.. an indian village in the dawn mist.. the world (my psyche) at peace..
thank you.. short but most effective.. a rare moment.. peace..

david this is the real deal.. big and impressive.. a full rock ensemble with strong vocals.. it sounds like a stage production the way les sings..
like the guitars in harmony.. a bit back in the mix for my taste but hey i'm a guitar picker lol.. great orchestration and keys shine through.. man that outro with bamboo flute and wind chimes was erie.. reminded me of SE asia in 69/70.. don't know why.. don't wanna know.. lol.. cheers dave.. a big dramatic piece which I've come to know from you.. :-)

this is like putting down my cheap $7.00 K-mart radio and stepping into a live concert. the sound is huge. it's easy to see you aren't the guys sitting on the front porch strumming and humming. the performance is tremendous.

Powerful production (love the drum sound! ) The matched power output and input is balanced just right (IMO) the change up (outro) was really nice ..and i thought it would morpth into something else...but by reading the muso's list on the remaining toons..i would expect to hear that wonderful ambient audio texture again...enjoyed!

Awesome track David....very clearly articulated and recorded. Love the way this song just moves and flows along. Great sweeping themes and the organic evolution of them speaks volumes. Wonderful voice and performances. Just rock solid and emotional. Excellent prog built the way I love to hear it. Beautiful job. ~Blake

Neat reflective lyric and vocal too.

Hey David, Welcome to IMS!! Though I like most all music, PROG is my # 1 Genre. This is a cool track and I love the piano use. Orchestration was HUGE!! I liked your vox, sung with great emotion. Guitar work was super.....you seemed to just blend it in with all insrumentation. Nice surprise ending. :-)

Inspirational and captivating stuff. I don't know how that could be questioned here. Gorgeous production on such a fine composition. It's all goodness. Big fan Dave!!! You know exactly what to do to ratchet up the emotional ante in very big ways. Large and exciting and I love it. ~Blake

Another one of my favorite songs, to me it has a bit of everything a song should be, a great message delivered by a powerfully emotional and very accomplished vocal, a wonderfully done arrangement, and when the song returns from the lead/break back into intro line, it gives me "musical chills". One of these days, I'm going to play this one at church for "special music", as soon as I can get my friend, Chris, to nail the vocal line (I think she is capable......I hope !!)

Sweet piece.... love the female vocals... very powerful especially with the guitar... this is the emotion I love to hear in progressive music...especially when it resolves... very nice lyrics too! A really great song! Congratulations to all involved!

this is a very well arranged song with all the elements in place.
Great production as well.
|
 |
I love the vocals. The guitar solo is great! Keep it up!
|

Yes, this song IS a great fit for the vocalist. Her voice is clear, spot on pitch! Beautiful. I agree with the modern aria thing. Good production, nice build-up of emotion. Maybe a little too much for me, but only because I thought she was gonna shatter my coffee cup.
Great song, and a wonderful job.

Great number, phenomenal vocals, I can see this song as part of a film soundtrack well done
|
 |
this is jazzy doc.. love the piano and bass duo intro.. who is that singing? lovely.. ah.. cynthia rob said.. it really sounds like an aria from a modern stage production.. got that rock opera vibe to it.. add some really nice parts like the drums and sections like the big dynamic middle section with the guitars.. cool tapping stylelead in there too.. this has a lot to offer..
big in scope.. truly.. a stage production number par excellence..
|
 |
Cool Tune! Very clean and interesting production. Yea, the bridge kicks in nicely. Good work by all.

Great song. Cool chords. Very unconventional. And great singing. Wow. Great build, and cool production. I'm impressed!!! And where did that solo come from? Whew. Great job.

Awesome vocals....awesome.

Darn...I should be used to those endings by now...VERY COOL Idea :-)

Most warm atmosphere prevails here, as if I'm in a sunlit mountain top sanctuary with people walking around slowly doing their own rituals, -a nice slow synth envelops the realm or does the realm enclose the synth; like the cymbals simply subtly sounding once in awhile. Like the percussion...interesting placement; works fine. Good vocals David, with thoses heavenly synth sounds emersing you in this altering space.
Good sounds, like a chanting fusion. A new genre of your own.
EXCELLENT. a harmonious blend of meditative sounds.****
-Your friend. -Vesa.

Rockorian chant....What a fabulous sound you have here...Stained glass castle? Love the vision that lyric creates in my mind...This really is very spiritual music...Hav`nt been to Tibet but have been to India and have to say, that yes, this reminds me of that beautiful, mystic land..:-)
Peace n love mags xx :-)

Dave....the whole piece hangs together so smartly, building emotion as the whole picture comes into view. Extremely well conceived piece with all the trappings that mark a pro composition. Musicianship could not be better. Serene, scenic, passionate...fantastic my friend. ~Blake

Fine poetry given a proper musical setting! Complex and tasteful. Loved the intro. Thanks for striving for something profound, it was much appreciated. -Dave W.

Dave, I REALLY like how you put this track together. The sound is very fitting to the mood created in the title. vocals are excellent.
|
 |
Tripping beginning Dave..."rockorian" hey I like that term... the piece settles in and becomes quite the interesting listen with many visuals suggested by the lyrics and soundworks. A fine strongly constructed piece...not to forget the familar native american flute. Well done to all!
|
 |
yeah agreed.. a great ambient intro.. like the voice.. and the march beat.. this has a subdued power.. nice acoustic guitar break.. a spiritual quest.. the lyrics are thought provoking..
feeling inducing.. I really like this one doc.. love the drums..
gives a real china marching through tibet kind of tension to it..
thanks for the pan flute ending.. peace restored.. cheers..

Have no clue how I missed this one Dave. Is that you singing?? Well whomever it is...I really like the voice. And the concept is very interesting along with how this thing builds...and builds patiently. The minimalistic piano notes, the infrequent guitar, and then the hand drums marking out an escalation of emotion. Excellent delivery and production here Dave...as always..something I can count on. ~Blake

What a sound...Love the darkness of it, haunting vocals, has a floydian feel to it which is very nice...Impressive to say the least...Did I say I`m impressed? I am, very... :-)

This is dark and ominous and the vocals are deep and intense with emotion. Guitar sounds awesome, great tone and sustain.
A powerful and steady rhythm sets the stage for this outstanding song.

Being an old rocker,I love the dark atmosphere of this one, very gothic.
Vocals are great, and I love the mellow yet intense groove of this.

hey david.. saw that title that appeals so strongly to me and remembered back to mixposure.com.. i liked it a lot then and i love it now.. love the piano lines.. cold as ice.. a long dark night indeed.. man you and Z (zefuldar) have those expressive sprechgesang vocals in common.. and I too thing the guitar was
beautifully expressive.. with all the notes flying around it's great to be reminded during my new tune that slow is also beautiful.. maybe moreso.. it sure is here.. awesome ambience..
nice to hear this favorite again here david.. cheers..

Brilliant number this, it's almost off the Animals album by Floyd. The guitar is almost Gilmour, great bit of work, really enjoyed this piece

 |
I have to say, it's great to hear some piano based prog music. As much as I like piano, you'd think I'd use it more :-( just hard to find one aound...and I don't really play jeys well anyway. BUT HEY!! This is about YOU!! Great track....strange vox, but I enjoyed them. They really fit the mood. The piano theme was a bit haunting, almost horror movie styled. Guitar work...EXCELLENTO!! Great Track!

I like abstract. This one is dark and Floyd like. Being a Floyd fan, I therefore love the track. The emotion is conveyed beautifully by the piano. Keep 'em coming mate. MD

Great stuff! Glad to hear you can pulloff a very interesting prog piece here. Great expressive vocals!

I like the artistry in this one.... pulls at you in very different ways... an aspect I like... its strong and delicate and of course a bit obtuse too... enjoyed it David!

Ah Dave, somehow this song escaped my review! Imagine that. Even in this classic rock sounding piece you managed to include an image envoking break, which is always one of the things I find interesting in your music. This is a right-sized romp with some great organ, KB swells, guitar and bass work. Your songs often come across as big, having that grand scale soundscape to them. Very nice Dave...always a pleasure!! ~Blake

I missed this rocker?.. from the album doc?.. diggin the beat and bass..
and the guitar themes too.. nice bass solo.. a really tasty soft rock a bit jazzy and classical too with the strings.. there are a few timings that are noticable.. lends it that bit of funk.. keeps it dirty enough..
lol.. cheers doc.,. great keys.. hope you were mighty pleased.. :-)

Hey... this is nice.. quite a collection of artists... and great sounds. Love the B-3 work and matching guitar not to mention the strong bass and percussion. A very full clean sound you guys...bravo! Give Willima my best Dave... we have collabed before and he's a fine fellow!

Nice song. Enjoyed a lot.

Love the tone of the guitar when it ripps in at about :56
The Hammond is always a nice touch in a tune set like this.
and I agree the change up at around 1:23 is just great.
|
 |
Good song and performances. The keys break in the middle is a great change up. I like the way the guitar player builds his part, never quite taking the spot light but very much in the forefront. The drums sound like drums should sound.....real. I almost missed the native flute at the end....it's a unique and soothing way to close out the song. I enjoyed it!

Whew...yep...I'm a father and it sure hits home. I couldn't reiterate the below comments and have it come out any better. I'll just add the song title and lyrics are so right to illustrate the sentiment of this topic. Yes..I cried. Means alot Dave! Kudos on this wonderful piece. ~Blake

This is one of my favorite tracks from Dave (all the others are also my favs. lol), but this one especially is touching. I have three daughters of my own, have given two away to a couple of fine son-in-laws (I'm very blessed). The third, Jennifer, is getting married in the summer of 09 (to another fine gentleman, Jay). I've already brought it up to use this song for the Father-Daughter dance, but I'm getting resistance from Jennifer. Not that the song isn't worthy, she's just afraid that she'll start balling and ruin her makeup for the rest of the evening lol. Tough !! This is an excellent and toughing track, absolutely love it !!
