I really like this song Janet. Great groove and lyrics. Hope to catch one of your Canberra shows soon (previous ones I've always been working). All the best, DJ

Love that Bo Didley groove ! This is a swamping bluesy tune with some funky elements ! That organ sound crystal clear....Aaahhh....Saxophone ??
I got a crush on that instrument ! Lovely rough unpolished tone ! The subject is so true....a car, a tv etc ? Allright...but never on a pay back basis...that's not clever ! Cash..is cheapest ! Credit...mwaaaa....NO !
Greetz from Holland !

Missed this on the way through. Really smokey blues feel to this. You've got a great voice with a great blues edge to it. Hot sounding combo behind you. Great work between organ and sax. Love that organ tone. Don't know how I missed another Aussie coming on board here. Great work.
Cheers

I love this big swing style rhythm. This baby flows like warm maple syrup over a stack of home made pancakes.

Greetings from another Aussie. When the Bo Diddley drum beat kicked in I was hooked straight away. Great song, great mix and a real cool groove.

RatMan here and listening, you have a real nice sound, as the first one I listened to, but on my system your bass needs to be cut down a bit, my speakers are shaken, other than that its A1 Prime Cut. Sweet. The RatMan!

Cool tune. I was starting to wonder about your mix for a second there hehe. Great lyrics that definitely hit home with most people!
Great sax playing and your mix sounds very good!

Cool tune, I'm diggin the lyrics and your vocals are great. This is pro sounding stuff.
Outstanding production and the performance is excellent.

I really like this. Yes, lyrics that are so true, to boot. Lots of surprises in here from the keyboard into the sax. This is one sassy little number with a sweet jazzy groove. I like it a lot.

That's so sweet it would make honey bees go on strike. Beautiful piano!

ALRIGHT GIRL, NICE LITTLE BLUES TRACK HERE WITH NICE VOCALS IN THE STYLE OF BESSIE SMITH. YOUR PIANO PLAYER IS GREAT!!!! :) HE KIND OF STEALS THE SHOW ON THIS TUNE. EXCELLENT COMPING AND SOLOING. BASS SOUNDS NICE AND SOLID TOO, THOUGH HE COULD BE UP IN THE MIX A BIT MORE, SO YOU CAN HEAR HIM MORE CLEARLY. NICE SAX SOLO TOO.
A NICE BLUES PERFORMANCE BY ALL.
WELCOME TO IMS.

Love the piano intro and the piano playing in general. Very well done. With this site not having a lack of blues guitarists I can really hear some great blues riffs being added to this :).
Good mix and vocals Janet.
Welcome to iMusicScene by the way!

I'm really digging the groove here. The backup vocals are tight and snappy and the lead vocal is just sweet and bluesy. As for the sax, well that's always good!

This is really a nice take on a little known classic. Everything is right about it. If you think this sounds bad I would love to hear it when you think it sounds good.

I was bouncing around this afternoon and found this tune. This is really a sweet take on a classic. Really freakin' cool.

This sounds great. Loved your voice and sax playing.

Very nice rendition of a V M classic. I enjoyed it.
Dazed may pull this though, he has a no cover policy here.

Hi Peter.
The high hat sound is some little effect or other that works with the touch sensitive keys on John's piano....not like a drum machine...oye, perish the thought!
I'll enquire with the "powers that be" about the licence and possible payment.
Thanks for your help and kind words.

I heard the hi-hats there so assumed it was a drummer but I guess that was the keyboard player too.
I'm not sure of the technicalities because the site is based in the USA but this song would obviously be copyrighted so permission (and possibly payment?) would be needed to do a cover that is being posted on the internet.
|
 |
Thanks for the imput Peter. ......Pardon my ignorance, but what does a licence entail and what does it do for the original artist?
Do I have to remove this file???? I don't want to do the wrong thing..... :(
Re Bass and drums, this recording is just me and the piano player...he's playing all Bass lines on the piano.

Thought I'd better get in early and comment on this because unless you have a licence, covers aren't allowed here. Having said that may I also say that I love this sultry version of this classic song. You have a great voice. Would have liked to hear a bit more of the drums and maybe the bass too though.

Enjoyed the tune Janet. Very elegant. Piano sounds fantastic as does the sax!

Cool jazzy tune, love the walkin bassline, sounds like brushes on the drums.
The piano is a very nice touch and the sax solo is done tastefully. Vocals are clear and up in the mix. I'd love to hear some harmony in select parts to accent the phrases. excellent song though, thanks for sharing!
