oh, man do I ever dig that 'Chuck B.' styling with the 50's/60's riffs, so kool...very clean and crisp phrasing. Fun groove to keep you movin', makes one want to dance. Love the ventures tremelo, you got a historigraph of musical stylings here from Bill Halley up to before the Grateful Dead came into view.
Love it Mark...sounds like you're havin' fun. I am also.
Dig it! -Your friend. -Vesa.

One could be forgiven for feeling that one is listening to a vintage recording here.
You really did capture the old spirit with this piece.
Clear and sharp playing and a complete contrast to your wilder style.
Playing clean like that really does seperate the men from the boys, you really have to be on the ball to nail it.
Authentic vintage stuff Mark.
Nigel.

Very cool number, Mark! Love the way that start sounds, man. Great playing, as always! I'll have to play this tune on my show this Saturday!
|

I was a huge Buck Owens & The Buckaroos fan when I was growing up. His lead guitar player, who's name eludes me right now, used to play instrumentals like this from time to time. And that's what this reminds me of, took three plays on two different OMD's to figure that one out. They were one of the coolest bands, had those great sequined jackets, and put on a helluva show. I see Carl Perkins mentioned here, too, another favorite of mine. I think he had one of those shiny sequined jackets, too. Mark, you're playing some of your best stuff. Seems like these last 10 months, maybe a year back, your own compositions have gotten even better than they were before, and that's hard to believe, because you are one of the most solid and productive guitar player-songwriters I know.
Peace,
Jim

Some awesome shredding Mark.....bass line very cool. Haven't been by here in awhile but glad to see you're still on fire. No one can keep up with you. Good title as this IS free and is certainly wildly emotive. Killer strings. SRV/Jimi channelled once again! ~Blake

Mark,
What a "power" track!
GREAT sound...and great playing!
I just LOVE this track!
*****
|
 |
You see...
I guess this shows exactly what I we have been discussing elsewhere...
Where could yuo buy this today in the commercial fields?
It starts out, kind fo gentle, innocent, like it wuold dream of letting fly on you,and then at some point, before you realise it,it is howling like a possessed demon.
It is always areal pleasure to sit and listen as you get so close to that edge and then bring it back.
Awesome playing.
The world surely does not know what it is missing.
Nigel.

Wow man - this is excellent stuff. Six strings of passion for sure!
Your guitar has such classic feel and can hear so much blues in it. This has rock attitude and reach the sky feel.
Love it!
Cheers

Classic Mark C stuff. Excellent, bro. Great work on the axe as usual! Super, man!
|

Mark you always squeeze these blues out with such passion. I can just imagine your face squeezing up with those bends. I particularly like the bass line in this one.
David Deal

Nice to hear you cut loose, Mark. And these are some great guitar moments, and the perfect backing for you. I like the use of effects, as they don't cover up a single note.
Great stuff, amigo!
Peace,
Jim

Hey Mark! Very sweet. smooth bass line and killer solos. You definitely have the gift of blues.
|
 |
yes sir, Mark you do have a style of your own and its killer man!
It sounds to me like you allow your soul to posess your fingers and thru them it talks to us. and dont get me started about your tone...ite pure!
|
 |
Yeah thats the right title. Mark is playing wild and free and Jimmy is not fare away.... Like the effects you used for the sound. I aske me what it is that I know in the moment when the song starts: Thats your guitar. Cannot explain but your style is distinctive....

I love the sustain on your playing, & the crying string bending, to the max here; very cool bit of many riff expressions, fast fingering to staccato, & much more but the main thing is your feeling shines through it all. Fine bass. I just had Joe Walsh come to mind a tad bit, watching him on the "1st Clapton Crossroads Guitar Fest". Highy DYNAMIC guitar artistry. really enjoyed this Mark.
Much inspired. -Your friend. -Vesa

One review!!!
Sigh....
Well that is everyone's loss, including the artisty, who surely deserves more than that?
Oh well,what can we do.
We can only continue to make the music.
This is more your wild sild.
Not Jimi,and not BB,someplace inbetween...
Somewhere very cool to play from.
Awesome lead as always.
Even as it faded it was screaming into the distance.
Mate, you are one of a kind.
Max respect
Nigel.
|
 |
Yes you are right it seems imusic is a little bit slow now... Your tune is full of the deepest blues groove. Crying guitar produce that distinctive sound and that special blues feeling which come only from your kind of playing. Yeah brother that touches my soul ans stay....
Greetings from
Erik

Was just over on Jim's page listening to "Working for the man"
And now here I am listening to another of your collabs...
Loren really does write the most beautiful pieces.
He never seems to really believe that I REALLY am a fan of his compositions.
Graceful lead on this one mark,no notes wasted.
nice use of the tremelo for the break.
Yep,beautiful work guys.
Nigel.
|
 |
Yes, Loren is quite a genius with melody, and the keyboards and guitar work together so beautifully. Mark, your tone seems different on this, and I like it alot. A very elegant piece of music, guys!

Mark, you and Loren work beautifully together. He's always had a wonderful knack for melody and harmony and this is a beautiful foundation for some really hot playing from you. You two make beautiful music together. Good luck with the CD.

I feel I know all tese songs so well...
From radio spotlights,and listenes elsewhere...
Well one thing is for sure, thse 12's get the thrashing of their life on this, their resistance must be something else at times.
You do those howls, then let fly on a run,and it all just works so beautifuly.
I have been working hard on my lead of late, more thought, and I can honestly say that it is you driving that.
I admire your ability to pour so much in and get so much out of that guitar.
There surely cannot be blues/rock fan that wuold not love this to pieces.
AWESOME.
Nigel.

This is very inspired & emotional playing, with a touch of Link Wray (gone bad..). Excellent playing with a raw, untamed sting to it. Love it.

Hey Mark. I hear Hendrix but also a lot of SRV in this one but then he learnt a lot from Jimi too. Love the low down anmd dirty sounds.

Oh yes...has the tone..the drone and sound of bent wired..ouuu. SNAp! (i think yer gittin alot of textures as well)
I have a couple of very vintage...that i would love to have you sample out the possible toneage...cause if your manhandling a Shafer sound like this..i only only imagine...and think of the many guitars out there that have not really had the chance to be "really done" ...if you catch my drift..he, he, damn bro...you have the unsuppressable drive in yer demeaner that just smokes thoses notes out...love like you never had....it's what every guitar wished they had. Congrates on the NEW CD Mark...It'S GoNnA SmOkE

|
 |
Tuning down eh Mark :)
Gunslinger went down to D tuning at one point ...
Close to hendrix?
Mate,I don't think you are ever that far away to be honest.
You can turn on and off the style, but that same passion, that fire, that love of the guitar is soul deep in you.
This illustrates that point perfectly IMHO.
Your passion for playing is clear as day,as you so perfectly titled your second album, that is so,it IS true,it is what it IS.
Passion, love for playing, just pouring out of you.
Awesome to hear mate, and wait and see, this will draw a lot more fans to you when you release the album.
Excellent.
Nigel.

This smokes Mark! If this is what you guys sound like live, no wonder you have a full gig schedule coming up. Wow!

Considering you use sucha heavy gauge of string, man you can make those strings bend.
Another classic blues rock song.
You make it all seem so very easy and I guess that is the hallmark of a master at his craft.
Excellent palying as always mate :)
