Hi Mike! Yeah this does have a really cool sound going on. And I love the smooth and soulful groove you're into in this track. The piano is a nice touch. Bass is sounding great. the fx on your guitar are really cool, kinda like a sitar in wah mode.

Thanks, Joe. Yeah ... it's more of an experimental, alternative, progressive jazz kind of thing I was shooting for. Fell in love with that sound ... at least for this tune! LOL! Cheers, Mike

saw the reviews mike so i want to hear it too.. like a laid back evening in a jazzy blues bar.. man those are some wild fx.. makes it sound a bit like a sitar.. i like the melody.. i love to play to jazz changes.. lots of different scales and key changes.. hmm well you didn't play some of the changes but it also can work ok without changing modes.. makes it sound bluesy.. it's a very nice tune mike.. the sound of the guitar was a bit far away in an fx cavern but i know it's fun to play around with new sounds.. cheers.. :-)

Thanks a bunch, Rob and Blake. Yeah - got a wealth of sound effects for electric guitar and I thought, this particular sounds went well and "funked" up this piece a bit.

Hey Mike, great sound in this tune - starting out made me think of Gino Vannelli from the early eighties (that's a compliment from me by the way!) Love those long dragged-out notes on the sax and you have some very nice chord progressions in there - nothing too obscure, just works really well. Haven't seen you since long ago on Songplanet - was really pleased to find the new Mix up and running so well. All the best, Chris

Sometimes it sounded like a horn and other times like a sax.....but it always meshed well with the harp....the bass played a big roll in holding together those progressional changes....caught my attention right off....I enjoyed this one!!

Hello Mike ! May sound strange but this tune has a kind of nice 50's atmosphere ! That collective you layed down is so nice and breaths the sphere of that particular era in jazz music ! Surprising element is Kepas delightfull Santana guitar... Proves the greatness of Carlos, who probably fits any era ! Big up for the Santana copy...well done in every aspect ! Mmmmm.... for a moment I was in a bar in Havana in the late 50's...it was very pleasant ! Have a sigar !

Hallo, was geht ? :) Ich dachte mir... ähhh... I leave a comment for your song "Just Passing By". Authentic Cuba-Libre groove, featuring a Carlos guitar with very nice melodic flow and absolutely enjoyable piano playing. I don't know why, but I feel motivated for the day now after listening. :) BTW... thank you for your kind reviews and also for leaving comments on our Mabuse Project site here on Mixposure!

Alrighty Mike...this song shows me alot of sensitivity. Very tasty details abound in this expertly crafted piece. One has so many things to choose to talk about here. Perhaps the leads trading off between guitar and piano and then intertwine. The wonderful jazz drums. Kephas' soulful electric lead. The delicacy and rhythm of piano chords, arps, and lead. The awesome arrangement of it all. Top notch sound and composition. You have it all my man and this is another proud part of the catalog!! Kudos to Kephas for his usual exquisite playing!! ~Blake

I was "Just Passing By" when I heard this wonderful song wafting - yes, wafting (and that's not Elmer Fudd on a river ride) - through my headphones. It stopped me in my tracks. There's something about this song that will do that to everyone within listening range, and it does it without shred, without over-the-top effects. I think it's called VIRTUOSITY.

Kephas, you're sure getting around. Syngularity one day, Mike K the next and your wonderful Lex collaborations (not to mention your own material). This is a great combination. Silky smooth latin jazz track with lovely interplay between the guitar and the piano. Mike, to keep up on the ivory with Kephas on guitar is no mean feat in itself. Beautifully melodic piece of music. Love the ryhthms and the progressions. Two talented guys in sympatico mode. Don't get much better than that. Lovely work. Cheers Brian

WOW!!!!! I cannot believe what Mike has done with what I sent him! Normally, it would be difficult to review a track that one contributed to...but, not in this case. I know what I sent Mike: this is a beautiful piece, and I tried so hard to come "up" to his level, but... The production on this track is SPECTACULAR! Mixing/producing "true" jazz appears to be a lost art...that is, until Mike came along... Mike's composition is a gem. Nevermind that he played bass like Ron Carter and piano like McCoy Tyner, to say nothing of drums like Elvin... I am beside myself because he has rendered a meager performance the way he has. Thank you Mike, for allowing me the privledge to be on one of your masterful compositions! Thank you! :)

Mikie, I can't believe I didn't review this song! I know I listened many times. Hmmmm... well never mind. This is a beautiful song, with a lovely arrangement. I must say that Rick was really excited when he heard the music from you-- couldn't wait to get his chops on it . I can see why. What are you playing the rythmn with? It's so full and gorgeous-- and Reap's guitar in there is such a compliment-- a yin to your yang, ermmm... or is it the other way around? I can't say anything here except to tell you how very much I like this lovely tune, and the mixing also sounds superb. Gina

I've never heard the other mix, but I love this one! Some fine playing, excellent use of the distorted guitar, hanging back in the b.g. a bit. The acoustics, wow, love the tones, and what you play as well. The sax part fits so well! And a total surprise! Thanks for sharing your music here! Peace, Jim
