Nothing wrong with being influenced, ala the Floyd vibe, and where you take it, Nigel, is freakin' brilliant. The songwriting, always so strong in your work, other than concentrating on playing clever guitar bits, roots this piece so well in solid ground. Usually, it seems, we're more apt to write short stories, but here you've written a novel. Powerful, exceedingly dynamic, and with a strong sense of purpose. Amazing stuff! And I'm so glad you recreated this for our listening pleasure. Peace, Jim

Nigel, I could tell you're a Pink Floyd fan!! The spoken & sung lyrics are killer! Excellent guitar tone and playing. This tune really grabbed hold of me right to the end. A very big/full production I must say. If you could only throw in the 'light-show'.... Loved this!! Moody & thought-provoking...

You did it again, Nigel. The music and lyrics are absolutely fantastic! Needless to say, this tune will be on my show! So, what gets me is the title of the tune "Dead Hell" - interesting, fascinating actually! Love the tune, mate! Cheers, Mike

Lots of comments : no depth comments though. Well for me the influences are clear as crystal but that really makes no difference to the outcome because put simply the influences shine and make this track glorious. The opening section pure gold soundscape and the deepness of the pads marks this one out agianst some of your other soundscape work:this has a real clarity to it the sound choices mesh together superbly and the chord sequence is both haunting and evocative. I'm staying on the synth elements a while further into the track you have an eerie synth voice which is warbling almost as though you're playing with the modulation wheel which I know you probably aren't cause you don't use a controller. So that makes that sound all the more impressive because you've had too tweak and you know how i love a good tweaked synth ! Back in with the choir pad with nice washes of reverb making it envelope the listener. Okay guitar : its always a central figure in your work not sure why that should be LOL. As always it doesn't dissapoint in any way.The dulcite chimed rythm picks and lead work shimmer like "shards in the dark skies of oblivion" ( theres a song title there) That intitial guitar tone is great there is no substitute for a great guitar tone it'll work everytime. Closer listening picks up the mic compression closing which could be by design Sue's parts vocally are a real gem of an addition agianst the storyline so thoughtfully delivered . As always Nigel you have managed to put things into this song that many would not realise are there....cymbal splashes on off beats and subtle little fills that happen at unexpected times : nice. The lead part hits me for the second time and I realise now that your mixing / production has indeed come on Bigtime the urge for any guitarist to hit the PUMP button on any given solo moment must be immense but you have managed to place the two guitar solo parts nicely within the whole as apposed to putting them in the shop window. They act as parts players if you will in a much bigger play. And that is as much a part of production and anything else knowing where too place the parts both timewise and level wise. Like a closeknit team each player has a part too play and this song is full of players doing it for the team not the individual. I ramble ! Progressive music used to ore the hell outta me until I met you and listened to your works Jesus mate you even made me buy a Floyd CD : no surprise then that I enjoyed this track totally at 9 minutes + to have listened 3 times on repeat says alot about any piece of music. I'd be tempted too loose those initial drum hits on the intro and push your voice up a little on the opening but that aside there really isn't anything about this I can fault its simply class and class is timeless. Sly

Whenever I start a song of You Nigel a special atmopshere is coming... SO much passion and so deep feelings transported to me and my soul. The refrain and lyrics together with Sue and much bass tones is remarkable. You are a great songwriter and have very smart ideas in arranging your instrumentation. Guitar work is awesome. LOve that tune!!! ERik

Hi Nigel, This is a fascinating track from the excellently played chords to the solid backbeat in the drum track. now your vocals feel so real in this track..its the words and how you deliver them. Thats what I love about you mate, how emotionally attached you are to all of your songs.

I like the elusive tempo between the keys and the instrumentation of the verse..has the floydian- Gilmore touch of "less is more" going on. The guitar work is a bit different (which i love to hear)..more tight-knit and deliberate,..tempo forcin that quality...no doubt...lol. the solo's that follow are indeed "potterized" and work very well with the vocal delivery (IMO) The outro (keys) again, haunting..but with the back-beat-delay(?)creates that elusive sound...very kool. ! The topic (lyrics) are perfect for the audioscape you have created...dark deep and down there. nice work sue! Enjoyed Nigel. (ya...my radar is workin! )

ah okay, I see where you took this. How did we get down here?. Like the guitar touch around the pad intro. Highly influenced progressive rock, some of your best emotional guitar work, its big Nigel. Drifty stuff that sets the mood down here. I like when you harmonize your voice to, it calls out. A great listen Nigel, heavy message laden sound...Enjoyed!!

Relaying the truth in a very honest way isn't all that easy to do...there are so many ways to present it. I heard this when it was freshly submitted...tragic topic...and the untold truths of how it's going on all over the world. You have done a great job with the delivery of this sad truth. I wonder how many feathers it takes to take flight? ...excellent release Nigel.

Very lovely tune Nigel...a most sensitive feeling, a pensive and compassionate sense here, very well written. Like the arranging, so well thought through...fine, most fine lyrics, most meaningful from your soul. Fine guitar artistry, that really sweeps me away even more as it is so well tuned into your message. Good gentle vocals. Nice backup female vocal harmony & synth chorus. Simply a wonderful original tune. This is in my faves. Thanks for sharing Nigel. A worldly tune. -Vesa.

Nigel. my friend. Simply brilliant. I'm not a lyrics guy, my focus is on music composition and the tonality and delivery of the vocals but man, I heard your message loud and clear in this piece. Absolutely beautifully sung, slide work is just as touching as the message and production as usual is top notch.. What a GREAT 1st listen my friend. Gabriel

Brilliant, this song invites the listener into a quite place to put them at ease then like a Father would school his son they need to know, the song gets down to business. The lead and tone at 2:20 was perfect, this is the difference between a good song and a great song. Great care and thought went into the message and it was delivered musically with perfection. The ending was also like a loving father releasing his child with no anger. Again great song writing skills on display.

Time. ....and if all we have are memories, recalling them can create images and moods, scents, and images....the distance created in the backwash is remarkable to me...the chord progressions are that of an errie nature, which in turn work perfectly with the acoustic dominate. This gernre of your writing is always very dramatic...you give it a life of it's own...and in saying that... this goes right to my favs! Excellent feel!

Nigel Potter, Your song, Sacred, is beautiful. The mood you set with the back round instruments, harmonies and lyrics that are really great too. Your voice lends itself to a haunting melody that continues to whisper throughout. I enjoyed the acoustic guitar solo's also. The song is fairly spacey, yet, hold the message of the intangible becoming tangible and back again. Excellent lyrics !!!! Thank you for your music and heartfelt wisdom Nigel. Peace, Paul

First I have heard your music and while I hear the calming of the track I also hear great pain and emotion on the way you deliver it. There is almost a haunting side to this track without it ever being let out of the cage. I hear what you are doing and I like it very much, it is not easy to make such a laid back track with such a dark side. Enjoyed this listen very much and recognize your writing skills. Bravo I am a fan

I've grown to love your music my friend. Your songs have the ability to stay with hours after I heard them - heck, even days. Sacred has such a mysterious atmosphere, yet it brings with it a lot of hope, as is the case with most of your songs. Nigel, this is nothing short of a masterpiece: The acoustic guitar is out of this world, the vocals are haunting and the deep, low synth is memorable. And, as always - your lyrics are captivating! Cheers Heinz.

Atmosphere and tasteful, modern mix balance blow me away. So delightful this power of expression, the ballad ambience reminds me almost of acts like Conjure One, plus your true songwriter's skills. Beautiful guitars and bass variations. Great guide vocal, perfect placement in front, awesome dynamics, fine orchestration and yearning background vocals... I wish nothing less and nothing more of a deep song. Another favorite of mine. Pascal

Blame it on the poor bus service . Uh hum:humour aside this song is very very nice the bass lead in is fabulous Nigel and that understated guitar that plays alongside is also very nice too. Best vocals I've heard from you in a long time :such a great sound/clarity to them.I think thats aided by the pad thats constant as a backdrop for the vocals. Wordsmithery is top notch as always from you : its a much more "mood" piece with a powerful underflow to it. And that title is a true gem. I've hit the woh woh part : superb a suspense being drawn before the strings come a calling : not the climatic guitar solo that most may have expected. You are becoming adept with those synth parts now Nigel. Its sometimes the under stated that leaves the strongest mark you know and this tune shows that. Beautifully done. Sly

Wait, wait! One more thing I need to say, Nigel, about the way your lyrics hold me. I'd just like to say that you have a way of reaching deep inside of me, and exposing my vulnerabilities. It's not a bad thing-- it's actually good to bring those things to surface. In a way, your songs are very theraputic. But the way I'd like to describe them in one word-- MAGIC.

Nigel, I've grown to love your music, my friend. I heard one of your tunes last night and it really hit me how much your vocals 'speak' to me. This song is no exception. How wonderful! :-) Cheers Heinz.

Nigel - your compositional skills are extraordinary. When coupled with the strength of charecter of your vocal performances, only greatness can result. The themes you embrace are captivating. This is an excellent track. The lyrics move the soul...and the way you "frame" the theme and lyrics is stimulating - to heart and soul. You are a unique voice - as it should be for anyone that writes and performs with the heart and soul that you do. This is just stunning Nigel. Congratulations: another wonderful piece. Desolete feel right off...i believe the C# & D# gives it that egde..it was very unexpected and incredibilly effective. Topped off with the lyrically hope you emerse yourself in...delivered with such content...you make it sound easy to reach down and let it out. Great Nigel! You really have the mood setting....mix and arrangement...skills mastered. The repeating violins (strings) are an excellent choice and placement to keep the listener involved. The lyric is dark and meaningful in what ever fashion the listener chooses to define them and that's a good skill to have in songwriting. Well done on the vox and song! Farrell

I'm liking this simple but effective beat Nigel. light dusting of that pad falls around me. The vocal here is just excellent man, along with the chorus vocal. Hey thats a great touch with the string riff, kind of fills the mood of wanting. Your lyrics are all so riveting and meaningfull, its the special part of your music Nigel. I put myself into this song and could honestly feel a coldness through my body as I reached out. The vox at the end was, its hard to describe what I was feeling, sombre track that carries a huge emotional jarring. Great Track Nigel!!

Wow: this starts out giving me a "U2" feel...I *love* U2...forgive the comparison. Lyrics...how old are you? You speak with the wisdom of an "old" soul...please, don't take offense. The production here is excellent. The lyrics: man, the depth of your expressions! You dig deep into ones soul...and yank out ones own experience which, while analogous, is close enough to cry over. Man - you're a creative soul...this is excellent. PLEASE don't stop! :)
