I don't know why,but I have afeeling style-wise that this is a kind of returning to your roots piece? Just something about it... Anyways, yes,it's all here: The pace, the feel, the atmosphere, and the sheer hanging on for grim death through the tight s-bend Must also note the bass, fine supporting role to the frantic guitar work. Excellent work Paul, this is going to be some CD. Reminded me of Chris Spedding,or Montrose, with that engine slide :) VERY damned cool mate. Nigel.

Paul, my M3 brother, this is absolutely killer. your tone and attack on those notes is second to none. then the change up and then you shift those gears back to overdrive and man you're flyin at warp speed but Always keeping melody at the fore front. Like Gina said....that was FUN!!!!!!

Think this is the first time I've heard your work. Remember reading your blog about this, and it got me thinking about a visit to your page. Cause if you produce a track of this caliber just for selling a bike, then what are you capable of when you get really serious. Top class stuff very well done

Is that your bike at the start and end Paul? Well, in between is when the song takes off ; )) Especially liked the take off at 1:30... sheesh... and then a calm at sea at around 2:15. Awesome outro! Satriani would take a bow, along with your fellow M3 bros! Cheers to a killer tune Paul! Bob

Excellent energy tune, Paul! I'm not gonna comment on anything technical-- what's NOT to love about it? It's a masterpiece. Shredder's dream, and it'll impress the hell outta any of them. Nice change up at 2:08, and I love the way you ended it. That was fun! Here's smilin' atcha! Gina/Whpie

Paul...this is outstanding...a wonderful piece . As someone who loves to learn of the ancient civilisations of planet earth, any music alluding to such is always a must to listen to. this song opens the doors of the imagination...a vision of the pharoah's journey to the tomb is very clear...A great adventure in music and imagination.- Gordon

This is typical P.O. guitar sound: crystal clear, outstanding technique and a wonderful melody. You are very popular Paul because you are a phantastic guitar player.... This song express very intensive the atmosphere of Egyptanian culture and brings this oriental feeling. I'm deeply impressed of that tune. Greetings from Erik

Done in the tradition of great progrock Paul, and I'm definitely with you on that. Wonderful arrangement and build. Song is a delight from start to finish. Intelligent writing and delivery that meets and exceeds the lofty goals of the song. Awesome mate....an exhilarating piece to say the least....Blake

well i'm all set for that eastern mode after reading the reviews.. a lovely atmospheric start and i love that long wammy ascending pitch.. i love these exotic modes with the minor 2nds in the "wrong" places lol.. you really extract the best melodic qualities from the material.. love the windows in the beat.. the breaks that highlight your awesome runs.. it's nice middle part with a very subdued beat and real nice acoustic chordings.. really sounds like phrygian mode paul.. or were you working out on some special egyptian mode?.. lovely shredding to end.. impressive piece with lots of regal grandeur and splendor in the broad scope of it..

Love the sound of the wind in the intro (blowing the sand across the desert and rustling the tents?) What a powerhouse of sound you`ve created here..Has a wonderful "arabian" flow to it..Guitar is fantastic to say the least and this really does conjour up some quite incredible visions in my mind...You have one gigantic piece of music here Paul...An excellent listen..:-) Peace n love Mags :-)

Only 2 songs of your GREAT range here???!?!?!? Well this is,awesome. Simple as that. It sets the stage right from the get go,and doesn't miss a trick ATMOSPHERE. Being somewhat a lover of all things egyptian, you can well imagine how this fires my imagination. Sueprb musicanship throughout. Spellbinding lead work. That rhythm.....sigh... perfection, and then... More lead, only this time blisteringly fast... Then we hit the break, and that was just sheer magic. I could have listened to that for easily twice as long, which is always the hallmark of something you are greatly enjoying. The plunge back into power........... Speed with taste and control... Man you should have seen the head cinema rolling Paul,I did you proud. AWESOME :) Nigel.

Paul, you're one of those very few guitarists/songwriters that when I hear you music, I have a smile on my face that takes days to go away. Such an incredible passion and technique to your music. There's a real power here, one that goes way beyond just skill. It's all about the song. And you put this one together so well. Man, this is dynamic at every twist and turn. Plenty of wonderful surprises along the way. I love the break around 3:20 or so... and all those fantastic notes in between... Peace, Jim

No way I would miss another Paul Oakley song. Man, I am a big fan of yours. I love this big sound. Guitar is stellar, as I would expect-- and the drums sound great on this. The droning background give is the Egyptian flair-- lots of drama in this. Like the soft changes at 3:10-ish. So glad to have you back!! Wow Paul, this is huge. Glad I noticed you up there in the "newest songs" category. Best, Gina/WHP

thought sure i'd reviewed this one paul.. must have been the same title recently.. this one is more mainstream in outlook and mode.. this is a straight ahead rocker with some real nice harmonized guitars.. nice progression.. the guitars are layered real nice.. the lead is always ready to make it's presence known.. and then you shred it to the bone.. what i love is your fast stuff is really well placed and spaced.. there's no pure self indulgence.. your virtuosity serves the music.. the way it should be.. a modest gun slinger.. great piece paul.. some awesome playing that we hopefully don't take for granted in your case.. cheers..

My cousin in a freefall nutcase... He does the team work as well, stacking themselves and doing all kind of mental things LOL He once asked me if I wanted to buddy jump.I politely declined the offer to throw myself out of airplane whilst strapped to a maniac. Seemed the sensible thing... I contented myself doing t-shirt designs for them... So,I could well imagine how this music would fit the bill... "They" have a little slogan: "We know why the birds sing" It is with that in mind that I get that sense of not "Falling",but flying. The musicanship is flawless as always... I can only imagine how the latest versions of these songs must sound,I mean, man this sounds so good.... "They" also have another little saying... "It is better to be down here wishing you were up there, then to be up there wishing you were down here" A note of caution against rash jumping in bad conditions, and again with that in mind, just maybe,if this song is anything to go by... There are times when I think maybe I should have joined the maniac, just to see how much the gods hated me :) Superb Paul, simply stunning. Nigel.

Excellent guitar skills used in an overall great rock instrumental. This represents a high level of achievement in both writing and performance. I haven't listened to much rock on mixposure yet, but you have set the bar very high. The next rock song I listen to will be difficult to review as this is such a home-run. Really, really, good playing. I would listen to a whole album of this. jk

How weird is that? I had not reviewed this!?!?!?!?!? Oh well, many apologies Paul for my oversight. I have yet to hear a piece by you that is not both a showcase for your guitar skills,AND,brimming over with emotion. This is NO exception. Beautiful written and aranged. Rich, lush soundscape, perfect for the soaring guitar, both in melody and lead. It has to be said that it is when you launch skywards on the lead that most of us just sit and shake our heads and wonder how a man makes a guitar sound like that... The movement into the arabic scale was beautiful,it posativly radiates emotion. As always, just amazing to sit and listen to you do your thing. Excellent. Nigel.

Guess I'm a little late to the party, eh Paul? Well, heard this track on iMS radio and wrote it down. Lost the paper and just found it. First off love the soundscape you've create with all your instruments. Second, great song structure/progressions. Third, some magnificent guitar playing. Quite some magical winding and weaving. Some guitar players play, and some talk. You are a talker mate....and love what you're doing here. Simple awesome!! Better late than never... ~Blake

I always have to check and see if I've reviewed the songs I find. I can't keep 'em all straight. This one is an exception, I hadn't. I still had to wait until it was over before I could write anything, since you play too well for me to do both at the same time. Paul, you are a great guitar player, that's been established, but you are also a fine songwriter. I admire how you keep the melody unspooling, going different places, like a great story should be. You use the full arsenal of great tones, sprinkling them here, there and everywhere, keeping the song lively. This is a great track, and I'm certainly glad to find it right here. Peace, Jim
