Great minds think alike, Paul (or fools seldom differ if you want to take a different perspective). I too am in the process of refining and reworking the very rough demo of this Same Song Madness Track. Agree with Rick about the depth of this mix. And the arrangement is superb with nice use of space, allowing all the elements to have their own particular place. Really nice slinky feel to the main guitar and the vocals are right up front and excellently performed. Nice to see people working their craft and getting it right rather than just 4 minute noodling and "hey man here's my new track". Some serious "chicken guitar" going on in the lead break. The recording is incredibly clear and wonderfully separated. Great work.
Cheers
Brian

Paul-Most excellent clear recording however I did find the vocal track just a tad too loud(IMO), because of this it made the mix much smaller sounding. I think if the vocal track were to be reduced a bit it would open up whats going on IN the INteresting background.
The lyric and music are really upbeat and a positive mood is sucessfully expressed as I am sure is the intent. Good Work.
All in all I like the production quality of this enjoyable peice. I may have to go there myself one day and check out that spot.

hey paul,
sly dropping by to say thanx for your words on the Boom Boom bazooka track (thats a project of mine) and also to return the favour !
Now this song right here has a really good time feel to it.the vocals and the words are carrying a very happy vibe which is great too hear.
Some most excellent guitar work throughout and the way the bassline rambles is also very very nice. The gentle solo with the dirty sound is excellenet to.
What I like the most here though is the songs dynamics its ebb and flow is just great and the little pauses add that extra dimension.Production is sweet .........
what more can one ask for in a song.
You make San Antone sound like a place well worth a visit.
Sly

Paul, you are one helluva fine songwriter. This has your trademark story-telling all over it, and a fine groove, outstanding guitar-work, and solid vocals. I'd call this The Total Package....

This one knocks me over with a solid Tsuni wave of music just hit me so nicely. Great vocals; like your voice expression, has efx.too; good guitar love the staccato...
Might fine progression. This is truly a fave. What a solid band. Everyone can be heard working so tight together, but sounds quite effotless; well focused.
Like the lyrics, defines that 'bad feeling for sure'...Superb.****
Oh yeah Paul. Had more than one listen; way cool tune.
Thanks for the pleasure. -Your amigo. -Vesa.

Paul, I love the guitar-work on this. Can't go wrong with a "She done me wrong" song. The lyrics/vocals have a great strong hook, and the song roars along. And you do this so well!
Peace,
Jim

Love the gradual build up in the intro and then that fantastic chord rip just before the vocals. Great melody and lyrics. Vocals really strong and some lovely guitar work, both behind the vocals and in the solo section. Great work

Ah I like this one Blues...you captured something here and I'm really digging it. its all about feeling and what inside your heart and you put that into this track. Excellent! ! !
Great story too...you should be proud of this one..its special.
|
 |
Thanks so much for your great feedback on this. This started with a few randome chords when I was noodling around on the guitar Saturday night. One thing led to another and the end result was this. I've been wanting to do a collection of songs with a Native American theme, and the subject of Crazy Horse was someone I wanted to do a song about. Funny how the road leads you to a direction you never expected when you started.
Again, thanks much.
Paul

Good one one Paul. Not to compare but with a compliment in mind, this has that J. Mellancamp mid-west sound to it. Nice work on the guitar, all of them!

Yeah, this song is very special, because I wrote it as a testiment of my love for my wife. Lord knows, she has endured my crazy ways for 34 years. I am so glad you liked this one. --- Paul

This is such a great title, and you pull it off with the hook (line and sinker!). I really dig the vibrato on your vocal here and how smooth you deliver the lines. It testifies of long experience in how this track flows with the tasty lead acoustic running on top of everything. Loved it!

Paul Sylvain,
THE TREE OF LIFE (acoustic version) is a song of one mans perspective that is brought forth in a folk rock styling that packs a powerful punch with your voice and lyrics.
There are elements of the lyrics that points fingers at one group or another....to me it's irrelevant of the faith one follows....I believe it comes down to what people can live with in their approach to life, love and universal energy. We all do have the capacity for love..and..unfortunately the seediness of the other side of the coin. Life is a balance....it's just what side of the scales of understanding we choose to tip in our actions.
Believe me, I could really go on about such philosphies, but, this is not the forum for it, for me at this juncture in time anyway.
The bottom line is that you have put your truth forward. It's certain that you own your truth..as others do....I'm just hoping that the day will come when society will stop considering the differences between us....we are all in this race together....the human race....
The tree of life has many significances....
Keep up the good work you are doing Paul, I'm sure it is making a difference...hopefully in a positive manner :)
Sticky topic....but always worth considering in peaceful means, such as in song.
Peace,
ZEST

I am wondering, had I not written a review to longbow? It seems no so that I am here again. Longbow - one of my favourite songs of yours sounds so great. Also the listener from my radio-show liked this song so much. Just I am listening to your other songs ... Thursday is my next show.
