clayville (11 Jan 2008 07:39 PM)
Real nice emotional playing. Food for thought rather than criticism: I liked the compressed, overdriven and mid-heavy tone choice but the pedal (?) seems to be flattening out some of the dynamics of the performance... the emotion ends up being conveyed by melody almost alone. Also: my guitar-guy prejudices wish the guitar was a bit more up front in the mix (maybe a little pre-delay on the reverb so you could keep the tail?) -- the piano/leslie is great, but mixed this strong with the leslie panning warble it's a little like a hand waving in front of my face while I'm trying to let the guitar carry me.

Fantastic playing! Really on the mark with the phrasing and note selection. Now, I know you've told me that you improvise most of your work, but this one doesn't sound improvised at all. That is a really cool thing to accomplish when you're flying by the seat of your pants! Standing-O! Well done!

Super smooth piece of music. Excellent balance throughout that lets that gorgeous guitar tone just ring out. Sensational feel to the playing. Love the way you wring the melody out and go for feel and phrasing. The electric piano is just right as are the bass and drums. Having found out how to collect favourites I'm putting this in there. Great work Peter. Cheers Brian

Sigh........... Beautiful......... Man I could justs it and listen and not write a word. This song is emotion packed class top to bottom. It's a rainy cold morning here, the windows are all misted over, and somehow, this becomes the soundtrack. The lead feels very.....plugged and played... Like you sat down and just said to yourself,I am just going to play it like it is,no filters between my emotion and the guitar, just let it pour out. Superbly played,I could listen to an album's worth of this any day! Beautiful. Nigel.

oh yeah the keyboard and the lead guitar are a great combination here , The beautiful chorus is almost jazz like , the smoothest most expressive lead I have heard in a while , this is great the so called rough spots just give it individuality . EXCELLENT , cheers !

you call it a rough draft but I'm hearing some polished blues on that fretboard. Just dont change it too much Peter.

Love the guitar right off the top...cool tone. Great singing as always Shane, a fine arranging with the guitar enveloping around the vocals. Great percussion. Love the lyrics also; very impressive writing, singing a troublesome situation. Fine keys-great addition...so excellent, with the interplay of piano and guitar. By the way, can't forget the truly neat bass playing-gives a very cool bottom. A SUPERB track guys. Fine chemistry; good arrangement. Love this one; truly. Marvelous guitar artistry. - Vesa.

What a magic number, reminds me very much of Lou Gramm and Foreigner in style. The backing on this is smack on, nice guitar line, but the vocals really make this work for me super track well done

Like this sinceI love a good piano, and guitar combination. Fine deep sound guitar, sends and emotive wave across my headphones; seering playing, like the melodic, repetition, good arranging. This is a very pleasant feel; like the expression emphasis on your guitar; nice variance. Great composition. Good backup to the piano & guitar. Lovely. Really enjoying this. Unique efx. Very well thought through...you have that machine movin' so DYNAMICALLY. EXCELLENT artistry. ****Love it. -Your friend. -Vesa.

POWERHOUSE!! This one had it's business boots on right from the start. Freightrain rocker. Awesome power, and that lead sparkled mate, simply shone, and I know that it is no easy thing to get the lead so clear against so much power. This felt like good time rock and roll, sounded like you were totaly hooked into the song, having a ball! Excellent mate, lead is definately the star, but I had to give a tip of the hat to the song writing as well. Excellent. Nigel.

Interesting space in this one, withe instruments way up on the stage, as I stand with my back to the bar. Then comes the spoken verse, hat low over the eyes, chair leaned back on two legs against the wall. Yep, it all works here.

Class and smoothe... You guys make it all seem so very effortless. Late night blues with a bag full of atmosphere. The spoken part was cool, had me thinking of all those great black and white Private eye movies with Sam Spade etcetera. Ultra tasteful guitar and arangement. Everything is so perfectly placed and oh so smooth and easy to listen to. Yep guys, this is class and I really loved the spoken parts. Nigel.

Hey Peter; Really great vocals. Now the guitar is really well done, nice infusion of complimenting piano. Wonderful combination. A very expressive, slightly whimsical original lyrics. The blues are in you and come out very nifty smooth on that guitar. Unique style and sound. Nice phrases within the vocalss. Like this; a fave. This is most inspiring. Thanks for the pleasure. -Vesa.
