Another summer come and gone, flying by in a blink of an eye...man I miss the long summers of my youth. My latest track is entitled Strange, a moody, acoustic track. Most definately a departure from my recent releases. There are no drums on this track. I'm also remixing some of my older tracks, my intentions are to do most of the tracks off of my 1st CD, Songs for the Hearing Impaired. I've already completed the remixes on Catch 22, Regret and The Distant Light. Expect more soon. I'm sure I'll also eventually record some new music. Check back now and then and I appreciate the visit! |

Geez...remember when you were a kid and summers seemed to last forever? My 9 year old just went back to school and he couldn't wait to go...summer seemed to last so long, for me just a blink of an eye...ugh. Musically things continue to steadily get recorded. My latest Feel It, a tribute to mine and Mrs. Ras's recent 20th anniversary, has been out for awhile now. Its a nice twin guitar rocker with a tempo that never lets up. This track features some slide work and kind of a surprise ending...at least for me, I think. The Epiphone Les Paul got a workout on this track. I love that guitar! I have my next track written, well mostly, and I should start recording in a week or so. It will be an acoustic based track, but who knows how it may develop though. Keep on Rocking everyone! |

Mid-Summer Update 2007 - 7/31/07 |

Its been a bit since I've posted here. Really not much is happening musically, I have released a few tunes over the last few months including my latest Far Away which has actually garnered some very positive responses, especially at Soundclick. And of course my near 8 minute track is here too and much to my surprise when that track was completed it ended up being a love song. Look What You've Done is the title of that track and it is a way different style of song for me. I'm spending the summer with my two boys so music has taken a back seat a little bit, though I do have a song or two brewing, so it won't be long now! |

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of my Dad's very untimely death and I'll admit...the grief haunts me every single day. But he loved my music and I couldn't think of a better thing than to release a new song on this horrible day...I just wish he was around to hear it... The song is called "Look What You've Done" and its very different for me. If you like, check out the track I wrote after my Dad's death...."Nothing at All"...it is a sad song but thats how I felt when I wrote it. Keep rocking! |

Warm weather finally seems to be here for good, but in this part of the country who knows for sure. The Same Song Title Madness track "Shadows" worked out well and now I'm working on a much harder rock track. Usually I don't write harder rock type stuff, though I really enjoy hard rock/metal...go figure. Anyway, when I do work on harder rock songs that I write, they tend to be a nightmare in production and this one is no different, though it seems I've mostly worked through most of the issues that have plagued this track. The song, called "Keep Rockin" is basically a mindless rocker meant to be more fun than anything. The track features Imellow64 with a killer solo to open the track and we trade off solos at the end and of course the terrific skin bashing of Warren Peese...I'm still amazed how versatile that man is with drums. I'm hoping to have that track done and posted by the end of the weekend, after that...who knows. |

March Update - 3/19/07 |

I've been fortunate to put on my artist site the collaboration that took place with Imellow63, my lovely wife...Mrs. Ras and myself. The track is "I'm Done". Imellow64 wrote this incredible rocking music and sent it to me in Sept. 2006. Mrs. Ras makes here lead vocal debut on this track and she does a great job. See the song information section of the track to see the breakdown of who did what on the track...I've very proud of this track. Everyone did a great job! Currently I'm recording my entry for Same Song Title Madness 6...the "Shadows" edition. I should be able to have it ready in time. Thanks for checking in and enjoy the music! |

"Sliding" back to my past - 02/05/07 |

My latest track, "Feeling No Pain", is a direct result of listening recently to the Rolling Stone's "Exile on Main Street" CD. That era Stones is by far my favorite, the Mick Taylor/Keith Richards duo was quite formidable and the virtuoso playing of Taylor had Richards playing his best guitar ever and the loose rocking/blues rythems are sure to get the toes a tapping. I started messing around with some slide guitar and Open-G tuning, the preferred tuning of Keith Richards, and this song was a direct result of exploring these new areas. Many thanks to Warren Peese for his exemplary drums...."Warren's good tonight, ain't he?" |

Not too much happening right now recording-wise. Taking a little break after "Feeling Lucky" and spending some time with my Stratocaster and a slide. I've decided to try to get a bit more comfortable dabbling with some slide guitar and using open-G tuning...so thats what I've been doing, and invariably I've come up with some ideas that will eventually be a song. I've also got a few collabs in house that I'm doing with Imellow64, but the creative spark hasn't flamed just as yet, though it will, I just hope he'll continue to be patient...I totally enjoy working with him on collaborations. |

Leaving 2006 behind...12/29/06 |

Goodbye 2006, and I can't wait to see you go. A bittersweet year with more bitter sadness than sweet. Musically a very rich year. Personally I think my music has reached new levels...and the musical relationships & friendships I've forged here at GuitaristWorks are so special to me, but this year was just too sad from a personal standpoint so I'm just glad its over. So, bring on 2007! I've got a new track in post-production, entitled "Feeling Lucky" and again will feature the talents of Warren Peese on drums. This will be out very soon! Also upcoming some exciting collaborations with Imellow64 (artist site-Michael). He and I work extremely well together...its a very easy musical partnership...things just flow when we work together. One of my New Year's resolutions for 2007 is to get Mrs. Ras involved more in some projects. Happy New Year all! |

Well my latest track is done and I'm very happy with how it turned out and...a welcome surprise as Warren Peese ended up playing drums for the track...and he did a wonderful job...really fit the tune well and it was an excellent learning experience for me in post-production, never having dealt with real drums before. Thank You Warren Peese!

Late November Rasmuth update - 11/30/06 |

Currently recording a new song, a driving acoustic track with plenty of electric guitar too. Rhythm guitar tracks are done as well as bass, drums, vox and most of the solos. Still to be recorded is some synth/string stuff. This track is currently untitled...it is the first song I've written since I started this journey into home recording two years ago where I'm struggling to find a title...strange.

A little Rasmuth blues..."Lying, Crying (got the blues) |

10/3/06 - I posted my latest track today called "Lying, Crying (got the blues)"...definately a bit different for me. The song features some dual guitar solo interplay between myself and the mighty "Floridamusic"...whose love for the blues is well-know here at Guitaristworks. Just seemed natural to include Florida on this project and he did a wonderful job. Thank you Floridamusic!

Beginning of Autumn 2006 Update |
| Rasmuth (09/25/06 11:25:54) Tag: default |
|
9/25/06 - My resurgance is on a roll as I'm currently pushing out tracks as fast as I can manage to record them. Presently I'm recording a bluesier sounding track featuring acoustic rhythm tracks and some electric solos. It appears that Floridamusic will be sharing the solo duties on this track and I'm certainly appreciative of his appearance, thanks again to his record label for giving their permission to appear... :D I also have an idea for a halloween track, though I despise the "holiday" immensely. The idea for the track doesn't promote Halloween so I'm feeling okay about that...we'll see if this pans out or not...hard to say at this point. |

9/20/06 - Finished the final mix of "I Will be There" and posted the song in my song section. Its a moody track, mostly acoustic guitar driven but with some electric solos for some balance. (You know I'm a sucker for mixing acoustic and electric) My next track is written and I intend to get right to work on it too...I'm feeling the musical groove right now so I'm going with it! Enjoy the track! |

September Update |
| Rasmuth (09/12/06 07:12:47) Tag: default |
|
9/12/06 - I'm in the process of recording the initial tracks for my next song "I Will Be There", another acoustic based track. The basic idea for this track is settled in my head and the lyrics are written, but I'll admit, I'm not really sure what I'll be doing as far as "filling out" the track...so this one will kinda happen as I go along. I also have another track written and a third one in development as I write this. |

"Nothing at All" is completed. |

|
I've finally wrapped up my new track "Nothing at All", officially marking my return to recording after 3+ month layoff. This song is very personal, inspired by lack of preparedness to deal with the death of a loved one, more specifically my Dad. He enjoyed my music and it won't be the same knowing he's not listening to my music. This one's for you Dad, I miss you! I hope you all enjoy the song. |

Getting back... |
| Rasmuth (08/24/06 13:29:53) Tag: default |
|
8-24-2006 Finished up "Scared", a collaboration with the very talented GrumpOldPlayer for the Cancer DVD project that MrNickNasty is heading up. I wrote the lyrics when my father was first sick with his cancer, I imagined what it might be like to be in his shoes and the song emerged from there. His untimely death only added to the "importance" of finishing this track, though I admit it was a struggle for me emotionally. I was fortunate the submission date for this project was extended because I'm quite sure I wouldn't have been prepared to finish this track earlier. I have 3 new songs written, so next up I will start getting those tunes recorded. Upward and Onward! |

Rasmuth state of affairs - Late summer 2006 |
| Rasmuth (08/18/06 18:22:23) Tag: default |
|
8/18/06 - I haven't recorded any music since early May when I finished up "I Can't Read Your Mind". The unexpected death of my father and a job change threw this whole summer into a state of turmoil and while I've been playing some and writing new songs (I haven't touched an electric guitar in over 3 months), I just haven't felt the urge to record. But I think I may finally break out of my funk shortly, starting to feel the itch to record and my Dad would have liked that, he was one of the few people who seemed to look forward to my songs. So beware, I may be throwing more music out there shortly.... :) |
