Wow. You had me at "taking your clothes off". LOL. That is the purpose of playing the simple vibe and driving it home. I genuinely love the Calico Legato. The C Ionian off the what I think is a D Aeolian is nice. I am just listening to it without a "geetar" so I am playing by ear - which is a very dangerous things. I like your initial reaction to the song. Taking your clothes off is always a good start.

A bad attitude is better than no attitude....I like this...its one of those songs that make me want to take my clothes off...had me moving in my seat!!

Thanks. Back at you. PJ can really put into words and melody what I am feeling, and writing musically. I give her the tune and talk to her for 20 seconds about the emotion of the song and then she somes back with exactly right vibe. A grand partner to have. And she is fine on the eyes as well. LOL.

Really enjoyed the horns and the singing and the bass and the drums and the guitars and.....ad infinitum

What is that I hear coming? It is the Phunk University marching band.

I hear a lot of potential on this tune. I love the feel on it. I was really waiting for a Chuck Earland or Shirley Scott type organ solo which would have made my day. Perhaps even a guitar solo of some sort would have sufficed. As for me, I would have maybe done a Rhodes solo since i don't do a lot of organ stuff. Otherwise it got my toes tapping which is after all the most important aspect of creating any tune. Good job!

WOW!! Glad I found my way to your page. Great TIGHT music. This was my fave genre of the 70's and 80's....Crusaders, Tower of power, Passport, Weather Report....and TONS of others....you gotdafunktoatee....LOVE IT!!!

Great funking groove. Love the rhythm guitar and interaction with bass. Reminds me of this old band on the Elektra label called Rhinoceros. Really nice angles and progressions embedded to get the phunk going on. Quite an interesting listen...and the horns work well too. Great job! ~Blake

Well paced blues progression. Yes, vocals would go well on this tune. The standouts for me are the drum line, acoustic guitar work, mouth harp and organ. Really nice blend of instrumentation with smooth delivery. Well done everyone! ~Blake

Really nice guitar playing...I`d love to have this one...No d/l, that`s a shame...It needs lyrics.!!! You know, this reminds me of something by the 60`s folk singer "Donovan"..I liked it...:-)
Peace n love mags :-)

Very beautiful guitar playing. You are creative and beautiful in this song. Keep strumming! Enjoyed the listen.

Hmmmmm....??? It's an artists picture and we all see what we want. I like what I see or hear....an interesting and enjoyable listen :-)

I appreciate the skill and delivery on this, I know your workin hard here. I would love to be able to play something like this, nice picking and cool percussive strumming in parts. Thanks for sharing your work.

The outstanding structure and chord progression is what makes this tune outstanding !! Excellent guitar work...a few minor tweaks and more tracks will make this a winner !!!!

I actually really enjoyed this. I've read the other reviews and whilst I do not in any way disagree with the suggestions for improvement I actually find the track quite charming. I certainly agree about the "pops"...they're an unnecessary distraction. But generally I found this a really pleasant listen. Would form the basis for a very good song in my view.
Cheers

Very good strummin' (and pickin') on the acoustic! Since your mix and strum favors the higher strings, as already suggested, a bass guitar in the mix would really fatten this fine progression up. I also heard the two cut out spots at 3:03 and 3:12 that Ian mentioned. It sounds like a compressor/limiter hit hard or a peak overload of some sort. Enjoyed the listen!

I love the progression on this. Add some bass to give it some low end and fix the stuff that Ian has mentioned and this song will fly high. This really sounds great. I am a huge fan of acoustic and this tune is very well done!

Sorry, I didn't really get this. Strummed guitar? The chord progressions are tasteful and atmospheric... and would indeed provide a good foundation for a fine acoustic rock song. The guitar sounds a little brash, I'd be wanting to add a bit more warmth. You've got a few subsonic "pops" coming through @ 3:03 3:12 for example which you should deal to.
Cheers,
Ian

Nice set of chords. Good guitar sound. Good basis for a song, but needs more than just a strummed progression. Maybe a matter of taste.
Cheers

I love the chords and the funk is delicious! Drums and bass are killer, as is the guitar work! There are some great sample libraries of horns that would just put this over the top. Memphis Horns and Chris Hein Horns are two great products if you are interested. Anyway, great job!!!

I like the direction you're going in this track. Its really solid already and the finished song is gonna be sweet! I'll be lookin for the update.

Hey RTB, you are getting a little bit Joe Walsh's guitar funkiness on this number. Guitars sound great! I even like the horns but as you mentioned, real ones are coming. Great listen!

I have played some guitar synths. I wish I had one. It would be great for this!
|
 |
Bro, thanks. You are preaching to the choir . . . . It is certainly a work in progress. It is primarily a scratch track for the real horns. Charting the parts is one thing, but having them comprehend the vibe is something else. This is a drummer and me. I am playing the parts on either my 8-string or my midi Les Paul Jr.

you have some sweet guitars going on here. love that funky jazzy sound. Distortion adds a sweet edge on here. The horns, well I like the addition but real sounding horns are so hard to get. Man if you only had real horns on here the tune would smoke!

BIG is an understatement. THIS IS LARGER THAN LARGE! Enormously delicious guitar on top of those infectious keys. Great job on the arrangement.

Really enjoyed the band orchestration here. The wah guitar kind of reminded me of Chicago (meant to be a compliment). Nicely arranged song, heartfelt performance, with a super production....a very BIG sound. Great job, guys! GO LaWWy!!!!! :-)

Big feel and love the pipe organ that highlights it. I'm betting that's Larry. Tasteful guitar and string performances on this classic progression. Some very strong identities surface in the song which may be very cool to tap into. I really like the tone and feel of this piece. Real nice one guys! Thanks for sharing. ~Blake

awesome tune guys....love the arrangement and the way this track is mixed. the big keys sound great.. guitar tone is real nice.

RTB love the big band, all instruments in unison, intro with the guitar riffing away! Good tone changes on the guitar and the synths are excellent. Enjoyed it!
