Beautiful, slice-of-life storytelling in this song. The vocal phrasing drew me into the heart of the story. The song evolves and develops strong characters with a deft approach. Very poignant. Love the instrumentation as well.

Loved "Come on By" from the very first time I heard it. This is about as good as it gets. I know how much you labored over this one, and it was worth every minute to my ears. EXCELLENT songwriting, fine accompaniment, and perhaps your best vocals ever. You were a bit worried about the length, but I think almost every listener wishes this wonderful tune could go on forever.

What a smooth and gentle ride through the memories of the heart! Love your voice and your soft, understated production. The instrumentation is so right and fitting of the material. All this talent and skill weaves into a magical road of gentle reflection and with a felling of friendship and brotherhood. Reminds me to take a look at the more relaxed side of life, which I think I tend to forget many times. Thank you for creating such a warm and friendly reminder to smell the roses, because they truly are worth the effort! Just wonderful, Brian!

Hello Brian, You are a wonderful lyricist. You create stories that the listener is pulled into your reality. Your passion always shines through in your creations. The music you write as the vehicle of your lyrics is always pertinent. All well proportioned and logical. Your chorus is beautifully done. Now that's a great modulation. The solo break is lovely and most lyrical. A well thoughtout and executed production Brian. I truly enjoyed this listen! My respect.............

Sssh... Listening... Wait for song's end. ---------- Well the same first rate storytelling. I was concerned that the suitor would be arrested for stalking at first, but the path of true love won :) It is a very intimate story... Rich with so many little details, the scattered memories of momments from years. Sad,yes, but ultimately life ends in a sadness of a loss that must be measured against a lifetime's worth and happiness. Deeply thoughtful Brian, had me thinking of many things as the song played. Superb vocals, and songwriting. You and Guy are without Peer in my book for being solid gold song writers. Greatly enjoyed. Is this a new album,if so,man it's going to be good :) Nigel.

Brian, so similar to Gordon Lightfoot's song construction, lyrical content, and arp'ed acoustic chordings...and every bit as good. Sorry if you don't like this comparison, but I loved G.L. and I think you just wrote and performed a great song. Bravo my friend. Super! ~Blake

Yet another side of Self Tort - "jaunty" as SciFiArtMan aptly put it. "A Paris Tale" that could take place anywhere in our corrupt world. Well-written, well-performed, well-produced, and well-mastered, a well-told tale all around. Another sock-cessful undertaking.

What an awesome collab from Brian and Joey ; )) Especially liked the melody - the vocals (verses and refrs) are exceptional! I've said it many times, I'll say it again - Brian's the king of lyrics - and with Joey on board...wow... I hear the "Rapster" influence at around 2:20 - this really shows the power of a collab - two minds are better than one - and in this song's case, genious! Cheers, Bob

Great song with wonderful lyrics in the pure Selftort writing signature. Excellent vocals and very nice choice of instruments for this very original tune. The rap part adds much to the tune and the mastering of my friend Dicarlo just brings the "FULL MAGICAL PEPS" to this song. Beautiful production indeed and great work by all involved ! Congrats !

ProgRap?? Well, hey, that worked - brilliantly! This is such a different and wonderful song. Lot's of creativity with the lyrics and vocal treatments by both Brian and Joe...damn impressive. Without the info available on the song I never would've guessed this was the rapster in the song. Just excellent vocalizations all the way. Now, the music - fabulous setting for the vocals. The twists and turns of the song work perfectly and are played as such. Best of all they truly work with the storyline to progress and illustrate it. Appropriate instrumentation reinforces the music's ability to tell this story, and details and tight playing cement the deal. Mix and production superb. What can I say Brian? This is a great achievement in my book. It's brilliant, fresh and interesting. Truly inspired songwriting and performances. My new fave from you and an instant DL. Kudos and congrats! ~Blake

Ah,an old fav redone :) I am guess these redo's are to reflect your more live performances of the songs? Well it has always been my belief that a really good song can stand in whatever style you put it in,stripped down or lavish arangement, and this is certainly proof of that statement. You are a Harper in the truest sense, you write songs, and you write songs because you are a harper,it is the very essence of yourself. The acoustic sounds very nice indeed mate... But the star is obviously the vocals/lyrics... A perfect photograph of sound,it's all there from the dust on the floor to the smell of alcohol in the air,and all populted by the small people of the world, struggling on heroicly against the seemingly insurmountable odds of life. Excellent Brian. Nigel.

Hey Brian this is a GREAT song! I'm back in front bar of the Court Hotel c1972 as I type this - "At home there's a meal on the table" - I recall an exasperated wife storming into the pub one evening and slamming hubby's meal down on the bar! Really interesting blog about it's (re)construction also.

Hey Brian, I've said this before but it bares repeating, I really like this acosutic side of you! Not that the other version was bad but I guess I just like the honesty of this performance that I hear in your guitar and your voice. Excellent and the choruses' impact is very powerful! Oh almost forgot, the lyric is another selling point. Farrell

I think I'll drink to this song! I dig your attitude Brian! I didn't hear anything that should be considered "explicit content"!

Just you and your guitar... and you make it happen. Man when you built out that chorus, that just grabs me. Great performance and songwriting.

pretty nice version B.. like your singing in this genre.. I read your going back to Pat.. my friend boneman took an online course from him.. but it can't help those with no real music talent.. and good songwriters don't need help.. so why are you going? you're already a good songwriter.. cheers.. :-)
