THE HOLY ONE

About two thousand years ago
a man was born
who changed the world
He came to save us from ourselves
but no one listened very well
except a few

He chose twelve men to bear His name
By one of them He was betrayed
He knew it all along ~
and knew that it would be
the binding of His destiny

I don't understand how they
could take a man
and steal away his life when
he had done no wrong
A crown of thorns they made to mock Him
And they scourged Him
The only word He said was
Forgive them ~ Father forgive them
The world denied and crucified
the true Messiah
They crucified the Holy One

And though His temple, was now lifeless
On wings of fire his spirit soared
to the place from whence no man
had ever returned

and when He wanted to ~ He came back again
Back from the grave ~ He rose from the dead
And He lives again ~ He lives forever
