The Giants

The Giants

Hi-   we posted a song entitled THE GIANTS .   I wanted to comment on the remarkable nature of the lyric content.

During my research on the subject of Ancient America,  I unexpectedly came across numerous references in ancient sources, about a race of Giants that formerly inhabited the land.  The writings of Ixtlitlxochitl (c.1520) are typical of the ancient sources i refer to .

We have posted a new pic to represent the song,, the picture of an archaeological discovery of an Olmec Head. It appears that these were the giants spoken of in the ancient histories.  The size of these men, is consistently reported to have been about 3 times the height and girth of a man today. in other words, about 18 feet tall.

Here's a few of the lyrics,

THE GIANTS

What can this mean

a myth or is it real

is it just an illusion

...

i turn the page

covered in dust

where the words are written

by Diaz del castillo

of a strange thing they showed him

and the legend that lives on

of a fallen race of giants

who lived and lost it all

------.......... the complete lyrics are in the song link

rock on ---

Smoking Baby - Don't Wan'na Lose it.

The DEEP (02/05/08 09:54:27)   Tag: default
Smoking Baby - Don't Wan'na Lose it. We would like to comment on the picture we chose to post with our newest track ,,

DON'T WAN'NA LOSE IT ::::::::::

The lyrics and the song itself , is a reflection on such things as the innocence of a child . - 'when i was a child,,, i saw the world through different eyes..''' etc.

The picture of a Toddler with cigarretes is not meant to be funny,, although with the proper respect, it has a humorous look to it. Also,, of course, The DEEP does not advocate a hobby of smoking starting at age two !!!! - in fact, I'm sad inside for young young people who i may see huffing a cig.

The picture, when i look at it , interestingly demonstrates the innocence of children,,, because when i look at that photo, i don't see A BAD BOY BABY,,, ROUGH AND READY for ciggarettes and mischief. No,, ,, even with the ciggarettes, i see an innocent precious little boy who is only copying a behaviour he has observed in us - the older ones who should know better.

In the reviews left on the song, i was pleased that no one seemed to be offended by the pic, however , i bet maybe some people were a little bit , but are mild enough to not thrash us for it.

IMS people seem pretty cool,,, well,, we'll have to get alot more obscene next time to try and SHOCK, !!!!!!!!! ,,, ehe ehehe ,, just kiddin.

Beyond the Veil

The DEEP (12/02/07 14:50:35)   Tag: default
Beyond the Veil

Hey people,,  I feel that Beyond the Veil is one of the defining tracks of The DEEP as a band.  Lemmee give ya some history here.  Back when Michael and I first hooked up.......
let me interupt myself:  this blog entry is a bit lengthy, but it must be said.  so please, remember to skip down below this entry for Nexus Radio blog and others. We don't intentionally want to push the previous blog down so far-

cont-   Back when Michael and I first hooked up to make music as a team,,,  he sent me a track from some of his earlier work that just blew me away. It was the instrumental of this.

In re-adapting the original track into this song version, bothe Michael and I are playing certain rythm guitar parts,,  and in the Guitar leads,, again both of us are trading off here and there. Micheal is a real lead guitar player. I just manage to roll off pre-calculated riffs,, but i havent got the rip roarin speed that Michael does.

I get off big time on us both trading off on various guitar territories, because one of my favourite bands is Queensryche. And when i watch them play, you can't tell who is the lead guitarist and who is the rythm guitarist because both of the guitarists will be in either territory at different times,,, just depending on how the feel and how the cards fall.

The DEEP doesn't play live of course because Michael is in the USA and i'm in England. but at least with tracks like this- i get some satisfaction.

I now present the LYRICS of this song. The song is about death in a way. It's about what lies beyond this life. I guarantee ,, there is life after death:

BEYOND THE VEIL

In your little castle of sand
the day slips away without a future

a window is the only simple answer
a window to the sky
and through the rings of time

in your wildest dreams
you can't imagine
what the future holds
beyond the veil
beyond the veil

ev'ry now and then
i see, i feel, i hear, i sense the moment
and the road ahead is not to be forgotten
ev'ry thing you wish for
in the world is nothing more than a dream
look ahead
you never imagined
what the future holds beyond the veil

beyond the veil
you'll find your dreams

like a wishing well
and through the window
in your wildest dreams
welcome to your mansion
and you never imagined this in your wildest dreams

in your castle
made of sand
the world is a wilting flower in your hand

the voice is calling
the veil is falling

IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS
YOU NEVER IMAGINE
IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS
WHAT LIES BEYOND THE VEIL
it's a wishing well.......... .

The iceland

The iceland

THE DEEP ,, IS ABOUT TO UPLOAD A NEW SONG entitled: THE ICELAND  Some of you have heard it before, however the track has been re-mastered and hopefully I've done it better this time. ,,,

About:  The fact is,,, anyone who investigates the situation of our mother Earth's ice caps,  will find that scientists are alarmed.  The global effects of the changes will effect us all.    That's what this song is about.

When Michael uploads it, I hope people will listen and experience the vision I've had in writing the lyrics.
Shane for The DEEP

THE ICELAND

Over the iceland
it seems a year has fallen
the season is fading
and tell me how could I live without her
and for all my life
my world is in your hands
and for all my life
I am in your debt
But there's a cold wind blowin
and there's a change in the measure of your land
I can wake up tomorrow
I can count on the sunset
to blue sky
but the fading iceland
tells a story that you just can't deny
the iceland fading
no longer do we doubt
that something is changing
something is changing

Over the iceland
the plain is greener than it's ever been
the season is changing
and tell me how could I live without her
There's no turnin back the hands of time
the change has begun
the damage is done
and I wonder
Hmm and is it gonna be alright
Somethin's changin
what more can I do ?
the force of nature is rising
how in the world could it go like this
the fading iceland makes me wonder
ooh and it makes me wonder
ooh and it makes me wonder

To the edge of the world

To the edge of the world

We've uploaded a track entitled; To the edge of the world

The original music composition was written and produced by Nick Tutone. Michael and Shane then brought in heavy guitar and vocal and adapted the arrangement into this song.

The lyric theme was triggered in my mind by the title Nick gave to his original recording; 1492.   The song is written from the perspective of how Christov Columbus might have felt.

the lyrics are linked on the song page
