man -you do a sweet artistry on tunes that have such great phrases, like the stones, but this is very mch you...it seems to get you to your roots, love that wah, wahing away..soaring so cool. A bit of sounds from various song sources, -arranged well, DYNAMIC tune. Love the overlapping guitars, just the way it should be, fine percussives, Love it...Like to hear more Clay...so don't 'FADE AWAY'...EXCELLENT.

What a great opening to this very cool tune! The tones here are very defined and oh so very well excecuted. The deep reverence for the blues can be felt throught out the whole song. A very modern aproach to this kind of blues. The whole groove is so relaxed and such a great listen. I am VERY glad i found your music Clayville!!!!!
|
 |
Very cool intro and an excellent guitar sound. You play a very expressive guitar. The arrangement produces an great tune -high musicality!!! My congrats to that guitar blues!

Thanks for the ears fellas. I agree the genre is tricky for this one... at least I remembered to take the preset off "acapella" ;-)
|
 |
Fabulous tones and playing. I also got a Allamn Brother vibe form this. Fine piece of music with a happy vibe. We all need more happy!
|
 |
I go along with Mark, but then we're limited to the genre's to click.....hehehehehehehehe. I always dig your tones....and this has a real Dicky Betts feel to it, for me. Nice upbeat enjoyable listen.....great guitar work...great production.......Great Job!!

Excellent number, not so sure if this is more a country rock number as opposed to folk rock, but I'm not gonna argue as this is a great piece of work. Well done

This I might have listened to; but that's fine. It's in here, a cool guitar playing; with a really nice bass line. Great playing; nice phrases. Again like your 'wah' use, good sound/tone. It's not sharp; but smooth (some players have a sharp sound on that peddle) Excellent mix. Like the percussives also.
Super tune Clay. Like it very much.
-Your friend. -Vesa.

Izzat a "masked bear" there, playin' those FONK lickz? Whoever it is, 's KICKin'... very nice "slinky" feel... you GOT 'da FONK, no doubt, with the requisite amount of soul mixed in. KEEP ON postin'... I wanna' hear MO', man! Gets a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for fonk-sters 'round th' planet!
|
 |
Got to agree that this is very cool all round. Unjustified modesty Clay, as it sounds that you fit perfectly in with this company. Love the tone of the wah. You and the keyboard player are very empathetic with each other and theres' some lovely interplay going on. THe slap bass really kicks along and that's one heck of a tight ending. Classy work indeed.
Cheers

this the cats from monterey you told me about? awesome must we almost take for granted from the city made famous by it's jazz festival.. these guys must be the children of the greats.. and you sound right at home with em clay.. i would have believed easily that this is your group with that soulful guitar of yours up front.. like the rhodes lines a whole lot man.. and that bass is too sexy.. thanks for the tip brother.. some ultra hip california cool goin on here.. pimp that tune.. :-)
|
 |
Thanks Vesa! The players here are far beyond my skill level, Monterey-based folks generous enough to let hacks like me play over their tracks: Joe Lucido on rhythm guitar, Weber Iago on keys, Kim Stone on bass, and John Nava & Clay Henry on percussion.

Well this is a most cool playing. Missed my 'wah' but you can take the limelight on that fave sound,(I don't use more than echo or wah)
This is nice & funky; good addition with that great guitar playing. Sweet stuff Clay; good chemistrty happening here..fun cascading keys works well with your complimenting style. Oh, that bass spells 'funky', most determined to nudge you around more with a variance in the styles...really enjoyable. Like the title by the way- lol -an award for best new 'genre' name. Who's on that chilled out piano...unique playing style works for me; nice to hear this....eccentrikery.
What a great tune my friend. Love it. Worth more listens. Sounds like your having alot of fun; I am, so it's darn superb.
Love it. -Your good friend & fan also. -Vesa.
(Thanks for the taste of 'Black & Blue)-been a good day to hear your diversity.- more to taste later Clay).

Most easy going tune, jazzy bluesy feel, floating caressing every string as you play with such soul, well focused. Most relaxing, my kind of music. Nice tempo change; fine variance to dim the light a bit more and get cozy with this. Like the good emphasis, by the way, a fine backup that's so calm. Good well mixed production. Do love it too. - Your good friend & fan.
-Vesa.
(Thanks for the pleasure.../mucho for the reviews amigo; very appreciated Clayville.)

The opening chord sequence is just sooooo beautiful.. then you punctuate it with a very expresive tone and feel. This song just draws you in deeper with the very subtle but oh so sweet tones and the journey becomes even more relaxed as the groove progresses to a very nice peak. This is some excellent production work as well.. I often look for such things as production values and excecution, these values are very strong with Clayvilles mixes. He pays attention to the basics but leaves room for his very very cool style.. and aproach. Again a very well crafted song!

I really like this...excellent composition, arrangement and production. I downloaded this to play on my Nexus Radio Show!

Wow: thanks for the very kind ears folks. Much more positive than I expected, actually.
I posted in a hurry and forgot to mention that the backing is by Dr. Ika (pickmaster) over on the Gear Page -- it's just the chewy lead that i can take credit for.
|
 |
I agree with them, this is a great tune and the keyboard part is jumpin out with a great mix into it. Groovy bass lines. Keep it up!
|
 |
OK, I love the guitar tone AND playing... Did you do the rest of this one too? It's a great track - smooth funky blue strut. Just a great feel.

This track is damm good, started out with that old Dark side of the Moon vibe with the backing keys and wah guitar. Love how the song takes its time and lets evrything flow together. Would have loved to have heard a trio of ladies doing some backing vocals with this.
A true bluesman

I figured I should give a listen to something a bit further back. Really enjoy this one. Love the tone, echo is right so cool...the way I'd like it. Nice floating feeling I get, relaxing in a warm soothing atmosphere, a dose of a musical natural high it is. I always enjoy your phrasing, octaves, simple but very focused phrases/riffs,- you have this great melodic sense in addition, which really makes it great, with all your touches on the fretboard with meaningfuless. This is an altering mind peaceful one. Most enjoyable Clay.
WONDERFUL tune! Thanks for the pleasure; most inspiring. -Vesa.

Like the feel of this track, everything fits the track well. Guitar work is tasteful. Nice production on this track with a nice wide mix. Great work man.

Oh, man, I love the sound of those delayed guitars. There's a raggae quality to the drums and bass in this -- but that delayed guitar just does it for me. Great tone on the geeters, too. I absolutely love this -- a lot.
