Default A Million Miles Away - I could use some mixing advice.

I have re-recorded this song at least 5 times. This is not an exaggeration - it is a low estimate. I have remixed it at least a few times per new recording too. I would VERY MUCH appreciate any advice or tips on what you think could help - I think it may only be the vocals, but one time I thought that somebody suggested cutting one of the guitars and that worked. Anyways, I hope to get something that will do the trick before I re-record the vocals again. If you'd rather mess with the mixing yourself, just let me know and I'll upload each instrument. Thanks!

Hey Eric, heard the toon, pretty kool too....i'm just adding my 2cents to your post. There are times where as i have mixed some of my toons in the 40-50 times zone, and i still think the lack something or another...lol
My advice is to keep on the throttle ...and back off the need to finish the toon at this stage of development...take your time "listening" to what you can make the song better for presentation for others....
Sounds like you have "tracked" the instruments/vocals alright....and believe me, the mix will sound a lot different after 15 -20 times, Hearing about musicians/engineers/producers who "blast off a finished mix" in one or two takes...well....they have being doing that for 10 hrs a day for years and years....
Just keep on doing your mixes Eric....it's all about learning curve man.
...a ping putter won't make you putt better.

Thanks bri-an! That advice sounds realistic and encouraging. It's funny, but I just posted a song that mixed well (I think) on the very first try. It was almost as though I just threw it together and said THAT'S IT! Come to think of it THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I DID! LMAO!!!! I guess that makes up for what a pain A Million Miles Away is. Thanks again for the time, man - I really appreciate it.

Why don't you upload the tracks and we will see what can be done. I am stuck in a hotel room for the next month so I would love to have something fun to play with.

I listened to the track you linked to and the first thing that struck me is that it is very centered, sort of a mono feel. I suspect that a wider stereo image would help.

Anyway, post up the tracks when you get the chance.

Check 1,2,3... is this thing on?
