What is the start and end date of the contest? The contest will run from July 1st through December 7th. Prizes will be awarded not long after!

How does the contest work? The contest will be a Battle of the Bands style with a twist. As we have seen on many websites, most sites use the most plays of a song to declare a winner. As we all know, the number of plays can be manipulated through software. We want this contest to be fair and anyone caught manipulating the contest will be disqualified. IP addresses will be looked at as well as proxy servers.

The Mixposure Artist will upload a song to their artist page. The Top 5 Artists with the most song reviews will be entered in to the finals. You will need to get your fans to comment on your song! One word comments will be deleted!!

Once we have the Top 5 Bands, the songs will be presented to an Independent Panel of Judges. This means no one from the Mixposure Team will be a part of the final decision. The judges will score the song based on a few different categories and the numbers will be tallied. Then the bands will be stacked ranked and the prizes will be awarded.

Who will ship the prizes? The prizes will be shipped directly from our sponsors and the T-Shirts will be shipped from Mixposure.

The artist of the month for July is Henry Harrington (Troudador222)! Many of us know Henry and his music.   His songs are about real life, the joys and sorrows we all experience.  The sweet tones of his 6 string martin fill the air in the songs he writes and his voice sings of the world we live in.

Just wanted to pass on something new we added. As people begin to upload more and more songs, it becomes difficult when it comes to which song you really want reviewed the most. With that in mind, we have added a way for you to Feature a Song of your choosing on your music page. It will appear on your Music Page under the Feature Category with an "R" on it.  To set this field log into your Control Panel > Click Artists in the top left > Modify Artist > go down to Select Song To Feature"  and that will set the field. Whenever you have a new song you want to change, just repeast the process and set the new song.I think this will help guide us to the songs we are looking for feedback on!

Hey gang. I have a question for you. The one thing that has always come up around Mixposure is the question of how Reviews should be done. Some say the members here are too nice in their reviews.

This brings me to my question. What kind of reviews do you want? Do you want people to sugar coat your review or have an element of honesty to it? Personally, I will take honesty any day of the week. If William Hung (google him if you do not know who he is) posted a song on here, would you really say the song rocks or would you say, it needs some work? The guy can't sing to save his life. If I were to review his songs I would suggest Autotune for him.

I am getting the feeling people feel they need to be super sweet in their reviews here. That is not helping anyone grow musically. However saying "You Suck" doesn't do much either lol. It takes a lot of guts to post your music up here for thousands to hear. So I applaud those who do. I want to help the artist grow. I try and point out things that would improve the Mix or maybe the song in general. I know I always used to look at it like a managment meeting. A few positives and a few negatives.

This is the way I feel. Maybe you feel differently? So do you just want people to sing your praises or tell you areas of improvements as well?

Please let me and everyone on Mix know how you feel! Remember, any review you do not like, you can delete!

In this Episode of "Did You Know?" we will discuss Blog Messages!! After seeing some of the messages I thought we should visit this area.

Links - I see a lot of links in blogs that are not clickable links. The easiest way to make a link clickable in the blogs is to type the name of the link in the editor window, highlight it and you will notice that the two icons next to the anchor in the tool bar have become active. Click the little chain link icon and then past the url in. Your highlighted text is now a link!

Pictures - If you have the url for a picture like www.mixposure.com/picture.jpg you can place the cursor in the editor and click the picture icon next to the smilie face. Paste the link in and you are all set. From here, you can also resize the image if it is too large!!

YouTube and other Videos - I see this all of the time. People trying to add youtube clips or other video embed codes and just can't get it to work. For youtube there are two options. The first being to click the youtube icon and pasting the video id. This is the alpha-numeric code that looks like xvg4ye7j. 

The other is using the full embed code. For this type of code, click the HTML box on the top left of the toolbar. This will open a new window. Paste the full embed code in here and click update. Do not be surprised if you do not see the video in the editor. Submit your message and you will see the video in the blog!
