I didn't know how to set my guitar riffs in the mix...it seems illusive

so last week i came to realize that not only can it be to soft in the mix but to loud

turn the mix down as far as you can to hear if it's over the bed (loud enough) and turn it up real high to hear if it's too loud.........listen to my song and see It's sitting quite pretty now

A song i posted that got a good response but i took down because i noticed a flaw in the rythm....today it occured to me that nobody else notice it....it's got some of the best lead guitar work...so i thought to put it in Southern Rock...

don't that sound cool....."DUMP 2" It's a real good song to drive to if you like fast rock in fast cars.....it's a good driving beat too and it'll take you right up to the ending...

The only thing is my fine feathered friends.....i have taken down "CANDY CONES" I know i know ...mixposure has experienced a real lose here...the truth of the matter is candy cones won you over just because of it's name ...i think it's not that good a song.....i'm sorry

i found that the lead riff don't make good sense if it don't end well

so i came up with the idea of 'DRAWING A CONCLUSION" how do you make a good ending.....you conclude a conclusion.........you end an end........you play until what your ending is resoved in laymens termes...........lol.................so if your drawing a conclusion to every lick you play how do you go on........I suggest instead of starting a fresh idea make the solo just a conclusion of your original idea.......look at this new song of mine and see if you like the idea..........

why do we love to create things

because it's taking things we already know or have, things that are already known or available....and presenting them as our experience..as something that takes my.... personality or my sorrow or my joy and labels it with some 'thing" that is already known

nobody creates something new...they mold things already known around themselves, to present there self as a living symbol.....so i guess you could say thats "new".

so it's like the greatest trip past houses and farms beyond all glitter and elegence to where your experience is a part of the whole of things known in the world

HI..... i made a new version of this but looking back i just must impress you the guitar work on the first one instead.....it's fast (USING HAMMER ONS AND PULL OFFS) and very seldom if ever just sounds like it's fast... wich i think is a real feather in my cap......got to listen to "Paul Gilbert" he's very very fast and is good at keeping your interest....you know you don't have to buy an IPOD or the like .....you can get a cheap $20 mp3 player with 2 to 4 gigabytes......and a dollar for a song off Amazon is a good deal......they've got everybody on amazon.....and you can buy CD,s used for $4 or so...

so i have all the special effects in this song... got low frequency response head phones for christmas.....it almost sounds like your outside the bass is so broad 20 hz...plus i've been stucying legato riffs....hammer on 4 notes right in a row and it sounds like your playing super fast...i like the riff hammer on three and pull them off right away it sound really fast......i imagine with time my style will incorporate these new thrills better....you can go to youtube and look up fast guitar licks....they'll teach you quite a bit...really do hope my style you like that i've presented here..the song is called FETCH TRAIN it's real funky

writing a song

how you like to play is how you write your songs....everybody writes music the same way....it's all a genetic thing i like to play this lick which you try and miss all the emotion to...

so how do you write a song of your own......on the spot improvising is good........get on stage and put your best foot forward then try to keep up with it....tieing your ups and downs together

what i'm saying is make your beautiful noise first then see how it falls and how you can win it back.......we all know a beautiful noise... all you need is the courage to stick out your neck and fail at making your beautiful noise known.........you can do it JAKE

i say this not as a third person but as one who has witnessed time making this song memorable and earresistable to any rock and roller it's called TOO RUH LOO noone will disllike this song....am i saying it's better than most of the songs we make YES... now you've got to listen to it

Hi everybody .......i read this article on mixing by some guy who has engineered for profesional bands

i liked his aproach....he said mix like people who are already accepted (the pros)

some of the points he taught were.....pan the electric guitar all the way to the left, add a little reverb......then copy it and pan it all the way to the right with a little delay and ata a lower volume......i used this effect on my new song thirsty check it out...

you want your bass guitar and kick drum the same volume panned in the middle.......vocals in the middle turned up just til it's loud.....you know what's loudest........any more volume would make it softer because of the trebles....the magnitude of loudness is a good way to look at it.....magnitude is "greatness in relation to" something at a higher volume wouldn't have the punch that a lower volume might have....when it's loudest it's loud

thought you'd like to know about "noise cancelling" headphones

noise cancelation ocurrs when you mic 2 feeds of ambient (outside) noise and run them inveresly (peak of one wave is trough of other). these frequencies, one run ahead of the other, will cancel each other out...because they create a new wave .think ,if you run your lawn mower you won't hear the lawn mower next door..or look at the animation...there is a whole for the sound to attenuate (fade away)as a result you get a new wave which is a silent sound

now my question to you (i'm thinking about buying some) is why would I want these for mixing?

HI I got some good news....the really fast guitarists don't play with there right hand.........they play with there left....that's write folks..three notes pulled off in a row or hammered on....i tryed it and didn't get a good melody but i'll be doing that everytime i sit down to record ....

I think there is a firewall (something that blocks) up about the poetic quality of prose in america

if we let literature speak in song and beauty we will loose understanding, we will stray from the meaning....but the structure strays from the meaning...whereas the song in poetry fills big gaps taking giant steps toward understanding what is being said...it brings a sense of humor a sense of what's happening with the reader

who is to write? The one that uses this privaledge of free speech to fill us in about his enviroment. the one that wins people in everyday conversation..the one that is chosen by his surroundings to speak what he has collected....by his greater self in the eyes of others.

just got to tell you about this jam..my partner prefered to be anonymous

but i learned so much.....the music we make "is the" influence........how he effects me and how i affect him as we struggle to follow each other...the out come is not a note that's great but an influence a living testamony of compliment, a joint (harmonious) whole that rings in your ear........something human that has become an object (actually a word that has become an an object)

and on and on we "talked" (played) throughout this song. I don't think musicians use the word talk too much.....it's the only word that explains musical reciprication (from me to you , from you to me) I think using that word more often will actually make you a better musician because you might forget too recipricate.........You know they say "NO egos" is that what their trying to say?

SOOOOOOOO.......live music talks....only live music talks! when you record also i suggest that you try not to mix it cause you'll loose what you were saying...actually you will loose what you were saying anyway because the music is not all around (condenser mic)
