Fightin' The Fight

Fightin' The Fight

I just finished a song called Fightin' The Fight. I wrote and recorded it quickly....a one day production. I'm using a 2010 Fender Jazz bass on the left side, a 1970 Vox Violin bass on the right, and 1972 Gibson EBO bass in the middle. The EBO is also the bass for the solo break. I have three tracks of vocals: Lead, hi and low harmonies. The drums are by a Zoom MRT3. No guitars were hurt during the recording of this song. I was trying to think outside the box and using just the three bass guitars made it a fun adventure!

Oye (Oakie) Como Va

Oye (Oakie) Como Va

This is a cover song my good friend Neil Swanson sent over with a request for some guitar enhancements. I really liked Neil's fast tempo version of Oye Como Va so I did my best to add some good guitar enhancements to his already excellent music.

BTW - I'm calling it Oye (Oakie) Como Va, with no disrepect, because Neil and I are a couple of Oakies trying to do justice to Tito Puentes' great Latin song. Seed of a Tumbleweed (with DrC)

As with a lot of my toons I've had this song and lyric bouncing about in my head for some time now. Getting the new VOX guitar for X-mas gave me the inspiration to get it recorded. As soon as I had the basic tracks down I knew it needed the excellent Hammond B3 and drum programming magical touch of DrC so I asked and he did......WOW did he ever, thanks DrC!

DrC - B3 keys and addictive drum programming.

Farrell Jackson - songwriter, all vocals, all guitars, bass, harmonica, maracas, and mixing.

Enjoy!

Farrell Jackson

Circle Circus (with DrC)

Circle Circus (with DrC)

Circle Circus is a Beatlesque type song idea that popped into my head. I recorded the basic tracks so I could hear it and stimulate some production ideas. It's finally all fleshed out with the help of DrC.

Since the lyric is a jab at the current political antics in the USA, I felt it needed a Circus type intro atmosphere so DrC worked his magic and wah lah....here it is!

DrC did the drum programming and all keyboards/Dixieland horns....recorded at his place.

I did the rhythm guitar, Mind Bender guitar, bass, lead guitar, and all vocals....recorded at my place.

We co-produced and DrC mixed it.

Enjoy!

Farrell Jackson

http://www.mixposure.com/pages/iaudio/song_id=30388

Southern Boy (featuring Buddrumming)

I've added a tambourine track and generally tightened up the overall mix and then remastered it. If you have the time check it out and let me know what you think.

Farrell

http://www.mixposure.com/index.php?t=mixposure_song_player&song_id=29133&band_id\
=991

A Holiday Song

A Holiday Song

This is just an idea that popped into my head. I decided to keep it simple for now with just a solo acoustic guitar. I'm using a Taylor GS Mini acoustic tuned down two full steps but it's still a standard tuning. So instead of being tuned to E, it's tuned to D. Enjoy!

This Is It - Farrell and Buddruming

This Is It - Farrell and Buddruming

Farrell Jackson - music, vocals, song engineering/production.

Buddruming - drums, percussion, and drums engineering/production. Bud also did the song's cool promo poster.

This is my submission to the Site Song Challenge. I think I've got the criteria covered. It's a collab bewteen Bud and I. The drums are acoustic, my hamonica is acoustic, my Taylor GS Mini acoustic is acoustic, the bass, my LP, and Epi Casino are electrified so........I think it's good to go. Oh and my voice is acoustic, lol.

I've been wanting to try the Nashville tuning for a long while so I re-strung my Fender Telecoustic. It sounds great in the song. It gives off the vibe of a twelve string in there.

The lyric is self explanatory.

I want to thank Bud for the great drums and also for the excellent promo poster!

Enjoy!

San Francisco Daze

San Francisco Daze

This one is called San Francisco Daze and it's brand new. I finished it last evening and it's a different style from me. It's a bit of guitar over indulgence on my part but that's sort of the idea or theme of the song. The late 1960's S.F. concerts were filled with never ending, loud guitar solos, lol. I've had this idea for some time now of writing a song that captured my youthful travels to San Francisco to hear some of the great bands and musicians of the 60's. The likes of Jefferson Airplane, Janice Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana plus more. Besides needing to see if my fingers and mind still had those jammin' capabilities, this is my interpretation of those days and that S.F. rock sound of the 60's. It was all recorded and mixed on my Fostex VF160. The guitars are an OLP MM1, a Squire Jagmaster, and Jazz bass. The amps are a Crate V-5 and a Mustang I. The drums are from a Zoom MRT3 machine.

I hope you enjoy my flashback.....Cheers!

Farrell

http://www.mixposure.com/index.php?t=mixposure_song_player&song_id=25508&band_id=991
