Fair Isles.


Here I roam, down the misty paths and the winding roads,
That will take me home, where wild roses grow and sweet waters flow,
And your waiting still, as the sun sets low and you shiver in the evening chill,
And I know you will save all your love for me.

Still alone, in the twilight haze, at the end of days,
And the birds have flown, into the evening sky, listen to their cry,
As you brush away a tear, and we hold on to the faith and hope,
That the time is near, there’s an end to fear, and together we will be free.

And I’m coming back to that fair place,
Where I long to hold you near, and see your face.
Through the wind and rain and across the miles,
I’m coming home to my fair Isles.



Skim a stone, across the gentle waves, look to the horizon,
And you, walk home alone, and far away, I long for the day.
When my ship appears, through the distant clouds that you gaze at through a, veil of tears.
And those lonely years will be just a memory.


And I’m coming back to that fair place,

Wrote this one when I was on a ferry heading back to Britain, looking at the hills of home, I wondered what it must have been like for Sailors and their wives in olden days, when they were away for probably years. Its a traditional structure, both musically and lyrically
