soul of the carnival, has animated the plaza.

Dedicated to all those past, present, and future willing to participate in popular rebellions.  When facing an uncompromising oppressor, sometimes rebellion is the only course of action.

The song began as an attempt to do a purely percussive piece celebrating the ongoing global carnival rebellions underway.  Salook in Scotland gifted me some fabulous samples of bagpipes, and I found myself dancing down a divergent but parallel path.  Perhaps it's a genetic thing - well played bagpipes have either made my eyes well up or feel like grabbing my cutlass and whack at authority.

Other vocals in the piece are from India and field recordings from Morocco circa 1959.
